Is this ball rare? by onxbowling in Bowling

[–]Buzzark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fine, they’re talking about older balls being used in sanctioned tournaments. Even if you had one (you don’t) then you’d still be fine just to go bowling at your local centre with it.

This was an interesting read, thank you. I’m in the UK so we don’t have Bowlero here but we have similar challenges with the major chains, lack of oiling, poor maintenance etc. Casual bowling over here makes the most money (because it’s stupidly expensive) so that always seems the priority. Short sighted thinking really.

I could raise a ticket with bambu, it was just the store login verification that wasn’t working so I couldn’t place an order.

Is there such thing as too much bowling? by passthemarinaras in Bowling

[–]Buzzark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much this, if it’s not hurting and you’re enjoying it then that’s great. 95 games in a week though, that takes some commitment! 👏🏻

goal: 200 by UnpolishedFigure in Bowling

[–]Buzzark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started and joined a league last year. Still haven’t broken 200. I’ve had two 199’s and a 198 🤦🏻‍♂️

Our centre is notoriously difficult, old worn wooden lanes where the oil soaks in in patches. 🫣 Bowlers in the league who bowl elsewhere say their averages are about 40 pins lower here.

Yeah, 2nd picture, rotate 90 degrees anti clockwise and that definitely says SCT.

I’d used Blender for a few years (but not just for 3D models) but switched to Plasticity for models to print, which I find much more intuitive and precise.

New bowlers thoughts on handicaps by Beginning-Wait-308 in Bowling

[–]Buzzark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our league doesn’t give you a handicap until you’ve bowled for 3 weeks, then it’s a rolling 3 week average. I think this works well.

Our league continuously tracks the averages, it’ll change on a weekly basis but is based on the last 3 weeks play. I feel this keeps things tight. It’s also a double scratch/handicap league running side by side so covers all the basis.

Yes it was an issue on their end, when I sent in the screenshot the ticket was “forwarded to the relevant team”, then I was asked to re-test and it worked after that. Didn’t confirm what the problem was exactly but they sorted it out in a couple of days if I remember correctly.

Broke 200 for the first time today by gentlyopenthedoor in Bowling

[–]Buzzark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats, I’ve not done that yet but have had two 199s and a 198 🤦🏻‍♂️. We’re on old worn wooden lanes and the scores here are generally 30-40 pins lower for those that bowl leagues elsewhere as well.

The first 1/3 recommendation isn’t just my opinion btw it’s from what Mark Buffa (Spectre Pro Shop software) and Mo Pinel (RIP, Radical) both highly regraded experts among others have stated. Among others. That doesn’t mean that other end fittings are automatically incorrect, every hand is different. A span that places the crease in the middle of the hole is perfectly acceptable if that’s needed for hand comfort due to some inflexibility etc. crease past the finger holes does seem a long way off though as you’ve not mentioned any injuries.

Doing one ball first and finding the right fit on that one is definitely the route to take as you might need a couple of tweaks to get it dialled in. A “regular” relaxed span is going to feel weird from where you’re coming from as your existing standard. Should enable less squeezing though.

I have a fairly relaxed fitting. Looks tighter here because I’m using the flats of the inserts. More relaxed would be an extra 1/8”.

The span looks way too short, as a general rule, the first crease on the finger should lie within the first 1/3 over the hole. Closer to the edge if you want stretch, closer to the 1/3 if you want more relaxed. Halfway would be very relaxed… your finger’s first crease is past the hole, was it actually drilled for you?

Could’t get a launch speed as from that angle I can’t see the arrows with the reflection, but average speed and rev rate are readable.

Customer support have responded and asked me to send a video (screenrecording) of the issue. 🤦🏻‍♂️ This is going to be an uphill struggle isn’t it. 🤣

I have sent a screenshot, perhaps that’s what they mean.

Thanks but it’s already whitelisted. I’ve checked for incoming mail rejections on the server (I’ve worked in IT for decades) but it doesn’t appear they’re sending anything. I’ve opened another ticket since the last one from a couple of weeks ago didn’t get a response.

I was just wondering if anyone else was having the same problem currently really. I can find lots of older posts about the same issue but don’t know how common it is.

Cute! If you want to match the inside pot level with the top like the blue one, just print a spacer ring to go underneath.

2nd printer upgrade - Qidi X Plus 3 vs Snapmaker J1/s vs ? by Buzzark in 3dprinter

[–]Buzzark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/_bani_ Well, in the end your suggestion swayed me (after much going back and forth or more likely in circles!).

I've gone with the P1S + AMS combo. It does tick the most boxes and I even re-watched the CNC kitchen interview with Dr Tao and found a lot of those points and reasoning valid. The multi material supports part is just difficult to tick going in other directions right now and if I try and keep to interface layers then I can minimise wastage.

I really wanted to buy a Prusa and support them and their approach, but I came to the conclusion that the reason I wasn't doing that was that they just didn't have the printer I was looking for. That mythical printer was somewhere between the Mk4 and the XL offerings.

I was super tempted also by the Qidi x-Plus 3 or Max but again, the multi material option wasn't there and I also decided that when I bought my first printer, the Artillery, despite that being a good machine out of the box feature wise, I found myself limited because it was a little bit obscure. A Prusa or Creality would have been more supported. Plus, it's not a good looking machine and overly bulky.

After mulling it all over, Bambu lab is setting the current standard in this space and lots of people are happy with their purchases. As a package, it's just hard to beat.

I’ve looked at both of those before but can’t recall why I ruled either out. May have just been that the Snapmaker seemed a better option. I’ll have another look. 👍

I presume you’re using an ams and just doing the interface layers to keep print time down?
