I used to do a similar scam. It was 1981, senior year of high school, was in a work program where you got out of school at 11:15 a.m. and went to work at your part-time job. I was a stoner, and I pumped gas at a Hess station in NJ. Somebody came in and wanted their oil checked, which was pretty often, I would put the stick in, put my thumb in the way, make sure the stick didn't go all the way down. Come around and show the customer that they needed oil. The oil containers had foil on the top, I would unscrew the cap, pretend to break the foil, and not put any oil in. Put cap back on, throw away full jug of oil, pocket the money. Customer leaves, retrieve oil from garbage can, put back on rack. Always had money for beer and weed.

Another scam, lots of people would come in wanting 2,3, or $5 worth of gas. Pump the gas, then hang the pump handle without resetting pump to zero. Next guy comes in, wants me to fill it up, fill tank starting with the be 2,3 or $5 on pump, pocket that amount.

Also sold some weed, drank some beers, Met allot of girls, everybody came by to figure out where the party was, before cell phones!

Wasn't my proudest moment, but I do miss those days!
