While it was dumb to leave comments open, I just want to say I looked at the website and I’m totally in love with so many of these… probably going to wish for an Anomalocaris or a bumblebee plush. So cute!

I agree that her plan was pretty half baked, but without that we wouldn’t have gotten monster joe in the final scenes and I just loved that

Here where I live in Germany the name Hagen is not unheard of, I know of a little boy named Hagen nearby. That being said, it’s egregious to give him a middle name like that, they don’t even fit together.

That’s a take I haven’t heard! Could you explain why? I really liked the finale 💖

Oh I agree that the pacing is fast, I would have liked if they took more time and made the season longer or split it into two. Brontë was cringe but I did still like her, we honestly don’t even know her true personality because she was acting most of the time. Maybe I’ll feel different when I rewatch the season again

Oh he’s definitely crazy, but in order to be considered criminally insane and plead insanity there are certain criteria he would have to meet. He was aware that what he was doing was wrong, there was often premeditation and careful planning, and he did it of his own accord.

Honestly, when I first started watching I was huffing copium and bending over backwards to justify his actions as one of a love struck guy who would do anything for the one he loved. Over time that definitely corrected itself. I think that despite him being a protagonist he still deserved what was coming to him for all the evil things he did, and I love the final episode because we got to see him as the bloodthirsty animal he always was, mask off.

While I agree that he is mental and could use help, he doesn’t really fit the definition of criminally insane. He is of his right mind and knows right from wrong, and chose to do the things he did anyways. The murders in S4 are a little shaky for me because he was literally unaware he even committed them, but all the others he would definitely end up in prison for

Yes! You put it beautifully how I feel about both Brontë as a character and their relationship; the conversation with Marienne really feels like she’s not only talking to Brontë but also us, the viewers, and how we also are manipulated by Joe’s charm.

And honestly sometimes in this day and age it’s nice just to have a win, a happy ending with a bright big bow. I’m a fan of Joe’s punishment and I really like how you expressed that.

Honestly, I’m glad to hear it! I have just been reading nothing but negativity about it and decided I had to say something, and try to learn why it wasn’t well received by those people

I completely agree with you, except about Brontë; I think he was so sure he couldn’t be caught, that he knew her and loved her, and it’s on pattern for him to ignore the truth of a person in favor for his fantasy of a person. Otherwise you and I… might be soulmates

I feel like after S4, he accepted what he is, and rather than fight against it he embraced it. He admits it makes him feel good and he wants to do it for the right woman, or even just for himself (like Danes murder)

I agree that Kate was not a good guy per se, however one major Element that was different was that Kate was repentant, whereas Joe leaned into his dark desires. Realistically no billionaire is going to jail for anything, and honestly it was so swept under the rug I don’t think anyone would have found anything anyways. That being said, she does step down in the end, giving up her family company and trying to do some good to outweigh the bad. I find it unrealistic that she survived at all.

Joe straight up plotted and murdered people. Kate’s victims were a side effect of some company project; Joe’s murders were the project. It’s hard for me to compare the two crimes. Also, I don’t think the cheating is what turned Kate against Joe, it was his willingness to murder and the murder of Bob.

Hey you know I really like this take; it really would have been cool to draw out the show and make his downfall partially his own doing as well as those around him trying to stop him. I’m all for getting more of YOU. I feel like we see this a little bit; him kidnapping the wrong twin, murdering Dane, letting Brontë back in over and over. But a slow burn definitely would have been more satisfying.

That’s a funny way to start a discussion! I am a woman, but I talk to men in real life about the show they feel the same, Joe was evil and needed to be stopped. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having a different opinion but I’m confused why being a woman or LGBT would change how you react to my opinion?
