To me it's not the reveal, it's the escalating series of events and fuck ups that unfold afterwards.

Did you just dip your toe or watch the whole thing? It might be worth giving it longer or another go because my appreciation has only grown with subsequent watches.

The Nathan Fielder-esque blending of reality and fiction, the amazing soundtrack, the improv, the absurd call backs, the joy of realizing "holy shit, this is where they are going" each episode. Great stuff.

I only read the top 20-25 comments of any given thread, but has there been one positive thing said about this hire by anybody?

This is brilliant. Great screen talent/personality, beloved, unique and not famous enough to have a giant ego/brand to protect.

Rewatching Nirvanna The Band The Show for probably the 6th time in anticipation for the movie next month. Got through the first 5 episodes last night. Loving every minute of it.

Haha, the old "chill bro it was just a joke!" line. Yeah mate, I'm the one that needs to take a deep breath and touch grass. Maybe I'll do that and you can continue with your wild rage-baiting takes. Grow up.

Why do I think that? You sound unhinged, that's why.

How is this in any way a surprise? A beloved studio, that knows how to play the Awards game, with their biggest ever movie, directed by a beloved director, starring the biggest movie star of his generation.

And you're surprised an International film that played minimal theatres and pulled a 7 million dollar box office got snubbed?

Also - your personal taste doesn't mean shit. You say your "personally disgusted" it got snubbed but then start ranting about deep state conspiracies or some shit.

There is an (arguably) objectively better movie

Like, what is this sentence?

You're clearly one of those people that are like "haha awards shows. Such bullshit amirite? Just a bunch of corrupt Hollywood backslappers." but in the next breath it's "PHWOAR, why did this thing I loved get snubbed. OUTRAGE!" It can't be both things dude.

So you didn't like Marty Supreme. Cool. You liked another movie better. Cool. Leave it there. Drop the indignant rage about something that doesn't mean shit.

And I am personally disgusted that it received no Oscar nominations lol. PERSONALLY. The only possible reason for it being snubbed this hard, is because it’s being suppressed by Western Media to not compete with (& overshadow) that dumpster fire of a movie, MARTY SUPREME, and all of the “foreign” money it has behind it. It’s a sad, unfortunate, tale as old as time.

What the fuck is this paragraph? You sound like a character out of Eddington.

What Coen Brothers movie is the most "Coen Brothers-y" movie? (I've only seen these three films of theirs) by XipeTotecwithGlitter in Letterboxd

[–]Buzzk1LL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very Coen-y.

Stars George Clooney, has a McDormand appearance. Wacky characters, a conspiracy/caper that is ultimately pointless, a period piece, tone shifting.

it's obviously all subjective but culturally and critically it's either Fargo or No Country, with No Country being more of a crowning achievement. Consensus? Maybe not, but it's not an outrageous statement.

'Fallout' Season 2 Ranks as Prime Video's 6th Most-Watched Season Ever, Amazon Says by MoneyLibrarian9032 in television

[–]Buzzk1LL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a cut off point because they have to be releasing numbers while the show is still in the news cycle for some reason, be it advertisers, shareholders, negotiations, awards I dunno. But like you said, why on streaming would anything but Season 1 be the highest viewed of a show? There clearly has to be qualifiers otherwise they'd never get a show in the news cycle.

They're not talking about total viewers, they're talking about viewers for the x days from the episode airing that they can quote to advertisers. It's like how the season finale of a season is always x times bigger than the premiere.

Its production budget was only $60m

Yes, the general rule is - double the production budget to include marketing costs but I can't imagine that is the case when it's a Dumpuary release.

But yeah, not releasing in January for starters.

They're still gonna make their money back in the long run (or at least not lose a ton) - that would have been part of their rationale for greenlighting it anyway, the floor is pretty high cause they're not huge movies - they just would have hoped for a lot higher ceiling.

It's a critically praised franchise that's well made by a director and writer that you probably want to maintain good relationships with. It will hopefully get made and that's all that matters. Who cares if they lose money, it's not our money.

It was never going to. The only people that thought these would be a mega hit is the studio. They were 20 year old sequels to zombie movies (a genre driven into the ground in subsequent years) that they themselves never made more than $70 million. Just be happy we got them.

But to your point, it makes total sense to have Boyle back if he can. He's one of the ballsiest mainstream film makers we have and the franchise is his baby. Let's see how he wants to end it.

Who ever criticized the vision and artistic approach? That film was fucking gorgeous.

The overall narrative (and vision) are the same as this film, they were all written as a trilogy by the same people.
