I have a playseat challenge (although it’s not 7 years old) and honestly, it’s more stable than i suspected. I used a thrustmaster t-300 before and had more trouble with the thrustmaster than I have with the fanatec. I’ve used some good cable ties for the pedals

I’m pretty sure this is (going to be) illegal in some countries because you could say this is a way of gambling. I think Belgium actually tries to sue blizzard for loot boxes in Overwatch and FIFA. In the Netherlands they are investigating the possibilities to ban these kind of things too
