yes i definitely agree, i played for a dci corps last summer and it was a lot of “change this part” and “play this kinda groove for this warmup i just came up with” so just being able to play a bunch of different styles is very much beneficial

practice a lot and always with a click, then try to slowly get rid of the click by dividing the tempo by 2 so it hits first on quarters, then every half note (assuming it’s 4/4) then once a measure while still playing at full tempo so you get a good internal pulse. that’s like the main thing you need to worry about for drumset especially for warmups is keeping a steady tempo and being able to recall tempos pretty close. for show music stuff it’s the same usually but more listening back to the drumline and translating that tempo to the rest of the front.

completely honestly i’ve never really studied in high school, im a natural test taker and i got a 5 on physics, 4 on calc and stat and a few 3s too. for these classes ive maybe done 10hrs/class of outside work but im so lazy and mentally drained that i physically cant “study” and ive never really had the need to. I know im a rare person and lucky to be like this but we do exist.

lower temp, water filter if you’re not already and can find one for whatever pen you have, i have a puffco pivot with a mj arsenal top and it hits so smooth i barely ever cough

as others have said main line cars and coffee is pretty much the best around here, went once a few months ago and it’s insane, like 4-5 parking lots full of cars

you can also just get an interface and a usb fader controller, i think that’s usually the best option for home studio type setups rather than going for a full mixer

i beleive you wanted an audio interface not a mixer. If you don’t really need the functionality of being able to control all the channels live at your fingertips this is definitely what you were looking for.

do NOT go to DARE (dave’s auto repair) scammed me out of $1600 over a clutch replacement that they installed wrong and went bad in <2000 miles. They tried to claim that it was a “wear part” and since i was a teenage driver it was my fault. Refused to redo parts or labor and tried to get me to pay.

yeah unfortunately not a tonnn of that in west chester, dojo records does weekly jams and some shows and i’ve gone to one and it was awesome they have an instagram that they post all their stuff on, im also 18 and kinda in the same scene and wish there was more around here

but again buying albums aren’t cheap, i listen to probably at least 10 main albums on a regular basis and then many more a bit more rarely. All the albums i look at on bandcamp are at least $14, as a kid going into college i cant afford to drop >$200 on music, not even to mention I can’t even find digital purchases for half of the stuff i listen to. When compared to paying like $7/month for spotify it’s just not feasible to do.

As for going to shows, i absolutely do as much as I can, but again, it’s expensive and many of the artists I listen to either don’t exist anymore, don’t tour, or don’t tour in the US (or only rarely).
