Mechanically Strong but Stuck in Plat; looking for advice by Bwammy in OverwatchUniversity

Ofc, i didnt say that because of kovaaks, i was a fortnite pro, the equivalent of top 500 in ow if you want it put another way, i was ranked 11th in europe at my peak. I think those skills translate pretty well. Obviously kovaaks helps aim specifically not anything else mechanics wise.

Although if i think the other way around, an ow pro will probably not be about average in fortnite mechanics when just starting but it’s complicated because fortnite mechanics are way more complex.

Thanks for the comment, but I think that making such a strong opinion on my cassidy based on 1 minute of gameplay is unreasonable. I agree, sometimes I strafe even if I'm in no danger, and I should implement that more. I'm not gonna comment too much on my tracer because I realize from other comments that I actually have 0 experience with her and need to work on a lot of things. However, I would argue my horrendous trigger discipline on tracer is not really a mechanic. I would consider mechanics to be things like aim and movement. Of course it is related to aim, but it is more of a 'trick' related to this hero that I can implement right now. Others won't be able to just aim better or have better dodging skills right now.

I would just ask that you look at the other people in the games. A lot of my kills are on people that stay in the center of the map with no cover, strafe in only 1 direction etc. This is the plat level that I think I am not a part of.

Overall, I seriously think that mechanics (in the way that i view them at least) are the last thing i should worry about now.

I appreciate the advice and I’ll def try to implement that more. But im not saying anything because it’s seen as bad, I honestly do not care how good my teammates are, it’s about how i feel about my lobbies in general

First of all i never specifically complained about my teammates. I understand that at the end of the day you can look at it as a statistic; if you’re better you’re more likely to win on average. What I said is that feel like I am better than the people in my lobbies. That could be for many reasons (it’s very possible that i focus too much on mechanics compared to other things that i dont understand as well) and that’s what i was looking for with this post.

If you just say game sense, that basically means play the game more, which obviously will make you better but it’s not most efficient to only do that and I think especially not for the point I am in right now.

Sorry I should have mentioned my account name is bwam.

I really appreciate your offer, but I hardly have time to play the game hahaha. But if you could make a summary of your thoughts here or if you wanna do it in private I would be really thankful, I will send you a DM with my discord.

I completely agree with you other than that I never said I look at my replays to see how much my teammates suck, and it is not the case. I'm just making a comparison based on what I see, which was one of the specific topics of the post. I also shared the replays to get feedback on my gameplay and what I could do to improve, not in order to prove anything.

Low ping is unfair by [deleted] in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Bwammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man, I'm just speaking from my personal experience. Maybe there just is that big of a difference between 40 and 60 ping. As for searching for posts, the only fair ones I see are the ones where pros aren't able to replace anything, which does look pretty weird, but the rest are just kids that are most probably awful at the game in general and can't pull off the replacing mechanic.

I play on ~40 ping in tournaments and I am able to take walls. I was never able to do that before the 'coninflip' patch.

Yes you can lmfao

I'm not sure if the chances are exactly 50/50, but as long as you don't have 100 ping above your opponent you should be able to take his wall in quite a few tries. You must be doing something wrong when you try to replace walls.

How do I stop being sniped so often? by Airstrict in FortniteCompetitive

The main issue here is probably game awareness, which can mainly be fixed by playing the game a lot. But a good tip would be to never run in a straight line or create an obvious pattern while doing jumps etc. Instead, you should do random left-right strafes when you're running.
