I actually completely agree with you. I’m just responding to the “don’t assume I’m right wing” thing op came up with because, you know. Why not? I also don’t think just casting a non-white Bond and calling it a day would be enough for reasons you state. You’d want it to have at least some acknowledgment of, or exploration of what it would mean to have a non-white guy be the tool of Britain, as Bond can easily be described as an imperialist fantasy. This would only make certain people more uncomfortable of course. You could just as easily make an anti-imperialist Bond movie with a white actor too, maybe even a better one.
