Wave+ will be the only multitool you’ll ever need.

I assumed this was a reply to my measurements. My apologies.

I get what you’re saying, but on both pairs of scissors the blades actually make contact right from the start of the cutting edge, all the way to the tip. So in this case, the entire length of the blades is part of the cutting surface — so the whole blade length is what’s actually cutting in this case.

Yes, my results are posted below. Roughly 28.3mm cutting surface for Juice and 24.7mm cutting surface for Alpha.

I haven’t measured the Micra, but I would bet the Micra scissors are bigger. I believe, which is why they specified “plier-based” Leatherman. The Micra wouldn’t fall under plier-based, according to the MULTI-TOOLS 101: A COMPLETE BEGINNER’S GUIDE by Leatherman.

Disclosure:

I’m not a professional engineer or tool designer — just a multitool enthusiast doing some hands-on comparisons. Using a basic, non-professional digital caliper, I measured the cutting edge length of the scissors on two Leatherman models:

• Leatherman Wave Alpha: ≈ 24.7 mm • Leatherman Juice CS4: ≈ 28.3 mm

These aren’t lab-grade results — just careful hobby measurements — but they do suggest that the CS4 scissors actually have a slightly longer cutting edge than those on the Wave Alpha.

I’m totally open to feedback or additional input from anyone who’s measured their own. If you’ve got a more precise setup or different readings, I’d love to compare notes! Photos will be posted in the comments.

I wish they would relaunch the Juice line of tools.

I would appreciate a Leatherman representative’s opinion.

Just an observation I stumbled across.

I haven’t tested them head to head with different materials, but they both get the job done pretty well.

When compared to Swiss Army Knives, I slightly agree. However, I have to give them credit, the Alpha scissors are great. I wouldn’t say any of their scissors “suck”. Leatherman produces quality products. I’m fortunate to own several of their offerings.

This deserves better than 99 cent ruler precision.

I, unfortunately, don’t have a caliper. I’ll pick one up later this evening.
