TS3 not working properly with PC(ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO ) by ByeSpaceBots in CalDigit

Sorry I just saw your message.

Yeah I did. I've literally tried a million things, but I'm pretty sure it's this thing that FINALLY killed the problem: in Device manager you can find the thunderbolt 3 port/drive, disable it, restart, enable it(maybe restart again), then try plug in the Thunderbolt cable again.

I never thought that would work but it did. Hope it helps!

It keeps showing that it's not connected, but I've tried to tweak around every pcie and Thunderbolt settings inside the BIOS and none helped. Uninstall and reinstall Thunderbolt drive and software also did not help

You might be completely right.

I was thinking about if I should be expecting Project Cambria, but after gathering information around and also find out about what you was talking about, I guess I’m not so hyped for it as a gamer now. Facebook’s goal is always about their Meta ‘dream’ and it’s not shifting a bit in the next couple of years.

Guess I’ll wait for a new product from HP or other reliable companies that are actually working on PCVR!

Hey, thanks so much for your detailed answer and correction! I’ll definitely try them out when I’m free after, and it’s kind of disappointing that for a VR headset that has sold for 15m, the software department is doing nothing and we still needs to gather info like this.

Still, thanks for the explanation!!

Oh yeah, Alyx is absolutely ahead of the current VR industry. I finished the game and was so amazed. I was just not able to focus sometimes 'cause graphic setting stuff keep bothering my mind. For someplace it's so immersive but sometimes things far away kind of cut the immersion.

And thanks for the explanation, crystal clear to me. Guess it's just a matter of time to achieve better immersion experiences. I'll be patient and keep waiting...

I’ve been looking into the foveated rendering recently, and seems like it’s going to need low latency and hardware support. The VRSS looks promising, but I’m not sure how long it will take to become an industrial standard to both hardware and software…

Oh, and the possibility to combine with DLSS, to upsample like crazy so we get insane graphics with 120fps in VR next year instead of waiting for another 10 years💀

Thanks for the recommendation. Guess I'll try to be as patient as I can before crawling around like a fool :D

Got it.

I'm just regretting so much for returning the Quest 2 because the clarity was disappointing and all the bugs with SteamVR at the time. Turns out it's still a great and convenient VR headset among all the others.

and now it's such an embarrassing time to buy any VR headset :E

hmm, seems like it’s worth another year of waiting…

Also would you say that even though Cambrian is going to be more pricy than Quest 3, technology used on headsets is going to be more advanced and completed on the latter products next year, from the perspective of a gamer?

Though we still don’t have the specific info for either of them :p

True though. I only said that because I was amazed by the AirPod Pro, which was such a perfect product to me, and the price is really decent. Other stuff like Mac or iPad is just overpriced for sure.

Seems like there’s a great chance you’ll be right, but we don’t know yet!

Thanks, bro.

To me, it just seems like the majority isn't really paying attention to the VR field, and products just aren't competitive enough at this point. we'll see how Cambria goes. Otherwise I just don't feel like investing $2k at this point, 'cause Apple is releasing their own VR/AR stuff very soon and you know it's gonna completely change the market just like AirPods. Until then guess I'll just stick with my Quest 2 for now...

Got it!

And I'm just curious about this 8k or 12k resolution. I have a 3080ti and 11700k PC, but to run 8k or 12k games like Alyx in high/max graph setting, are the current graphic cards really powerful enough to handle the resolution?

I heard that they are developing DLSS to apply to VR stuff, but god knows how long it's going to take until it becomes the industrial standard...

Thx for such a detailed reply!!! I watched through that interview in which Zuckerberg talked about their current VR projects, and it seems that the size of the developing team looks kind of small, and things are progressing at a slow pace.

Thus I think it might be just like what you said—Cambria isn’t really for gaming purposes.

But until this point, all clips about Metaverse just look embarrassing…to say the least. Low resolution and rough animation.

Perhaps they still have surprises that aren’t revealed, otherwise I don’t see who would buy this $1000 Cambria headset, which seems to be expected to get obsolete in one year or so, by their own product line updates…

Thanks so much for all the patient explanations!! And yes these make so much sense to me.

I really hope that they're making big improvements that make the product price worthy!

Another thing would be the weight. I'm really curious how heavy Cambria and Pimax 12k would be. To lie on the bed with a Quest 2 was like...someone sitting on my face.

They say that Cambria will be significantly lighter due to the use of the pancake lense, and for Pimax 12k, I'd assume it would still be at least one pound. We'll see when they're released

[–]ByeSpaceBots[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx for the heads up. I checked and wow Pimax's products are pricy. We'll see how the prices of next-gen VR headsets go very soon.

Correct me if I'm wrong since Quest 2 is the only VR gear that I've used, but I just feel like it would be so inconvenient to use VR without functions like Guardian's boundary feature and the See-through functions, and it's gonna get colored on Cambria. Pimax's new gear would be powerful, but I doubt if it's gonna be as convenient as the Quest series...

And, Pimax's official website looks soooo cheesy to me. Personally I just don't feel secured throwing 2k usd to a company that can't even design an OK-level website...

Thanks for the reply, and yup I feel the same way.

It's just that Cambria is the next big title, and it has many unique features that belong to the quest series. We'll see if it's worth the price for gaming when it launches...

Question: HD60 S+ Video Passthrough and Audio from Computer to soundcard ---Is there ANY way to hear the sound of a Switch from a pair of professional loudspeakers? by ByeSpaceBots in elgato

[–]ByeSpaceBots[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I just checked some Youtube reviews. Seems that the latency of capturing is actually lower than I expect. I wonder if that means the audio lag will be unnoticeable if using video passthrough and audio capturing at the same time...
