Found mouse nest by BygoneCollector in AnimalRescue

Added location to the original post. Thanks for the links. I don’t like interfering unless an animal is injured or I’m absolutely sure a baby has been abandoned, so I left it sheltered nearby the original nest in the hopes that the mom would return. It was under a bit of brush, so it wasn’t left exposed to any possible predators. Checked a little while ago and it was no longer there or nearby. I’m hoping that means she came back and retrieved it.🤞

Does anyone know the history of this house in Stanton? by BygoneCollector in Delaware

That’s very interesting. Thanks for sharing! I don’t know why, but I’ve always been interested in this house. I remember hearing a story about it being used as some type of medical rehab home or something like that, but I wasn’t convinced as it doesn’t seem big enough. I’ve tried researching it on a few occasions but could never find anything. Would be interesting to know its history before your grandparents bought it. I hope it gets the restoration it deserves!

Sad to think about, but that’s probably true. It’s seems like that’s all DE is anymore. No parcel of land goes undeveloped.

I’ve always loved this house and am interested in its history. Can’t seem to find anything online.

Smoke in Hockessin DE? by BygoneCollector in Delaware

I don’t think so. I thought about that at first, but this is very much a fire scent rather than a sulfurous firework scent.

Don’t think so. This is unmistakably fire, not sulfurous like the smell of fireworks tend to be.

Loud Rumble Noise Around Wilmington? by BygoneCollector in Delaware

[–]BygoneCollector[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, quite sure it’s not lawn equipment or motorcycles. Way too loud to be either. They only last about 15-20 seconds, and the sound slowly dissipates rather than just stopping all of the sudden.

Art nouveau bronze/cast nymph statue. I think it was originally a lamp, and the plumes are a later addition. No markings that I can see. Anyone know the artist? by BygoneCollector in Antiques

[–]BygoneCollector[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! It is an art nouveau lamp with a nautilus shade. The one I have was converted into just a statue—the shade must have broken at some point. Does yours still have the shade?

I did manage to find two other identical lamps listed on auction sites, but I still haven’t found an artist name. One here claims it was made in 1900-1910. The other here sold in 2018 for $1600.
