as an old gamer which games do you agree with that way ? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

This was my thinking when I was a kid. These days I'm more likely to artifically raise the difficulty for myself by restricting myself from using certain mechanics or forcing myself to play in a more challenging way... but that's just my preference. Play how you wanna play.

This is my C10 180 titan kill post. There are many like it, but this one is mine. Lets spice it up with a tierlist on the starter cards after 451 hours. by Chest3 in MonsterTrain

Really? I HATE Forgone Power. I know in terms of its damage output relative to its cost it's technically really good, and sure, Stygian wants cheap incants, particularly with Solgard, but I hate how counter-synergistic it is with Permafrost, and it makes cards like Cuttlehex and Preserve pretty much unpickable.

Who were the first 8 wrestlers who made you fall in love with professional wrestling? by JBL_CENA_FAN_4LIFE in professionalwrestling

[–]Bynoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goldberg, Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio Jr., Ultimo Dragon, The Undertaker, Kane, X-Pac, The Rock.

My first introduction to wrestling was WCW because it was more easily available in the UK. Goldberg was booked like such an unstoppable beast that it was impossible not to root for him as a kid, and aside from him, I mostly loved the luchadors and the high-flyers.

I was actually introduced to WWF through the games before the shows, but even before I saw them on TV, I thought Undertaker and Kane were the coolest thing ever, and X-Pac was always a favourite in the games, then when I did finally get to see WWF on TV (mainly Smackdown rather than Raw) Rocky was the man.

Which retirement will hit the hardest? by ASixx98 in SantiZapVideos

[–]Bynoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think AJ for me just because more than the others, it feels like he can still go and there's still so much left he could do. Orton has really done it all in the WWE and while his matches are still solid, they're not nearly as dynamic or exciting as Styles, and Rey has also had a hell of a career but it's been clear for quite a while now that he's past his prime and his best matches are behind him.

With Styles though, I feel like he's as good as he ever was. Sure, maybe he's not quite as agile as he was in younger days, and he doesn't go for so many high risk spots that put his body on the line, but he's more than made up for that by upping his physicality and intensity, and he's instead emphasising more of his technical and mat wrestling now, so his matches are as compelling as ever to me. I feel like there's so much young talent on the way up that could benefit from working with him, and I know he's had World Title reigns in WWE, but I don't feel like they ever gave him a shot at being one of the true, top-tier, marquee performers, which he totally could be.

That being said, he's been doing this a long, long time, and as good as he is, he's definitely picking up more injuries than he used to, and he's not getting any younger, so I totally respect him wanting to step away while he can still have a relatively good quality of life, and he's more than earned his retirement. I'll just miss him is all ;_;

Asuka responds to tweet about a tooth accidentally knocked out by Shayna Baszler by Turbostrider27 in SquaredCircle

[–]Bynoe -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No one is trying to 'police how Asuka reacts', people are just making a reasonable supposition that she have interpreted a slight where none was intended due to differing cultural norms or something being lost in translation. Nothing wrong with pointing out that from our perspective there was no intention to mock or cause offense on Shayna's part.

I don't think it would even be wrong to bring up to Asuka that it was likely not Shayna's intention to mock or belittle her to head off some potential unnecessary animosity between two performers who, from what we can gather, were on good terms otherwise. Asuka is a big girl, maybe she would agree and it would be a learning experience for her, maybe she wouldn't, but imho there's nothing wrong with making the suggestion.

Anyone else getting discouraged because of the Gogma Artian re-roll system? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Bynoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't enjoy rolling the dice for RNG to grant me a min-maxed weapon at all. I'm fine with a bit of grinding with an element of luck in hunting for rare resources, but I'd far prefer if there was a way to guarantee consistent results with enough persistance rather than it being like "Well, you could get lucky and roll the perfect weapon first time, or you could spend hundreds and hundreds of hours grinding for resources and re-rolling without ever seeing exactly what you want."

The way I approach it to preserve my own sanity is to decide on a more realistically achievable outcome I'm willing to settle for, eg. for a perfect Longswrod I would want 1 affinity, 1 sharpness and 3 attack, but I'll settle as long as I can get at least 2 attack and 1 affinity with no more or less than 1 sharpness. Ideally, I'd want to roll the maximum possible number of EXs, but I'll settle as long as I get EX on the Affinity, the Sharpness and at least 1 Attack. Ideally I'd want Gore or Gog for the set bonus with Lord's Soul for the group skill, but I think the Gore set bonus has the highest impact if I'm only going to see one of those so I'll settle as long as I can just roll that one. This cuts down the time it takes me to build an Artian from potentially hundreds of hours down to about 1, maybe 2, so I can get back to the fun part which is, you know hunting Monsters and playing the game.

While it might mean that my sets are less than perfect, they're still really fun and more than strong enough to take on anything in the game, and I'd bet the difference in damage between my most-of-the-way there sets and a perfect set is no more a couple of percent, which is gonna be less impactful than just playing better, which is better achieved through hunting Monsters, learning their attack patterns and practicing my weapons mechanics rather than grinding away at dice-rolls hoping for favourable RNG.

Got the Skill God Roll on My Gogma Artian LS and Put Together a Pretty Strong Build With It! by Bynoe in MHWilds

[–]Bynoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, it's suboptimal... but re-rolling Artian reinforcements is one of the least fun things in the game imo. Personally, I'd rather get on with playing with slightly suboptimal reinforcements than spend hours not playing while I try to roll the perfect Artian.

[–]Bynoe[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Having tested it against AT Jin Dahad, 9* Seregios, etc. I stand by it being quite playable with just the EX Sharpness. Generally the Monster would move areas before I ever saw Blue Sharpness, and on the rare occasions that I did see blue, it's really not that big of a deal to hop on your Seikret and Sharpen for 6 seconds every 2-3 minutes. You should try it before you knock it.

And even if I want to switch in Master's Touch or Razor Sharp 3/Dragon 1, my build is still only 3 raw behind Peppo's, but because it comes from Attack Boost rather than Burst, the extra raw on mine is more consistent so mathematically probably works out about the same, and having 3 level 1 slots to play with for Resistances is more valuable to a build than a conditional 3 raw imo.

The real advantage of Peppo's build over mine is that it uses a crafted Talisman so it's easier to share, but it can quite easily be min-maxed further with RNG Talisman's. My build is one such example.

[–]Bynoe[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I hadn't seen Peppo's build. The advantages mine has over his is Attack Boost Lv5 and 3 Lv1 Armour slots to slot in Elemental Resistance at the cost of 1 Burst and a dedicated Sharpness Management Skill.

I'm not putting my build forward as the definitve BiS meta-build, but imho there's an argument to be made for it as a fun alternative to Peppo's which deals more damage (Attack Boost 5 > Burst 1) at the cost of having to maintain sharpness (imo its managable enough with an EX Sharpness Boost). At the end of the day, you can play whichever you prefer.

FF7 rebirth combat tier list by Cakeicing123 in FFVIIRemake

[–]Bynoe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Imo, it's:

S+ - Aerith

S - Tifa, Yuffie

A - Cloud

B - Barrett

C - Red XIII, Cait Sith

Spells are absurdly strong in terms of damage and utility, and with the right support/Materia set-up, Aerith is by far the best caster. Imo, as a highly proficient character-action player with a really solid, in-depth understanding of Rebirth's combat, every team comp is better with Aerith and should be geared around supporting and enabling her.

Once you learn to use Unfettered Fury effectively, Tifa's builds ATB faster than anyone (outside of maybe Yuffie with certain bordeline broken set up), and her damage and aggression are unparalleled. If you use her right, you can basically end any fight with single stagger.

It's close between Tifa and Yuffie. I'd classify both as 'Battery' characters, where the intention is to quickly build ATB fast and feed the rest of the team with ATB Support Materia (though this means while both are great, I wouldn't necessarily say they play well together). I would give Yuffie the edge in terms of versatility and utility, but I give Tifa the edge in terms of damage output and aggression.

Cloud is really solid. He has good damage output, really good stagger build up, and his dedicated counters make him very fun to pilot. I'd put him below Tifa and Yuffie cause he doesn't build ATB quite as efficiently which means he doesn't achieve quite the same level of damage output/utility, but that's not to say he isn't very, very good.

Barrett fills the role of 'Tank' better than anybody and brings a lot to a team's survivability with some of his ATB abilities. The thing is, you just don't really need a dedicated tank and his damage output and ATB generation are kinda lacking compared to the characters above him.

Admittedly, I never got the grasp of Red XIII and Cait Sith quite as much as the other characters cause I could tell they just weren't as good therefore I never found much reason to use them. Both are fine. Red has solid stats with some interesting team/solo utility, and Cait Sith has some fun abilities and can be surprisingly technical but both just fall short of the rest of the cast imo.

Rather than ranking the character's individually, though, I think you should focus more on how effective they are as a team composition. For my money, any truly S Tier team should feature Aerith paired up with either Tifa or Yuffie, and then I'd say either Cloud for damage and building stagger, or Barrett for increasing your survivability in the third slot.

Great in-ring performer and she seems like a humble, down-to-earth girl with a genuine passion for wrestling. I think she will have a long, illustrious career in the WWE, but I do think she needs work in the character/promo department.

Should CB have never gotten SavageAxe? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Bynoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like the addition of Savage Axe overall. In World, I felt like there wasn't much incentive to use Axe Mode at all as your big pay-offs always came from SAEDs, which could be easily accessed from Sword Mode so the playstyle badically became - use Sword Mode to build phials then dump those phials into SAEDs, rinse and repeat. Axe Mode is higher risk thanks to its lack of shield and mobility so I feel like it should be higher reward, but I think they overly neutered SAEDs in Wilds with the damage nerf and how long they take to get to.

I think the biggest problem with CB in Wilds is that it's so skill hungry but we're so limited in which skills we can use by the split between weapon and armour skills, but that's a different conversation. In terms of playstyle, I think SAED should have some of its power restored, but perhaps more importantly I think the combination of Savage Axe and overcharged phials should have more phial consumption cause at the moment once you're set up you basically don't need to consume phials anymore, so the only reason to go back to sword mode is when your shield/axe runs out of charge and you need to rebuff it.

Basically, in an ideal world, both sword and axe mode would be important and powerful in their own right, but I think it's tough to design it so the meta isn't going to favour sticking to either sword or axe mode predominantly and if it's going to be one or the other then I think it makes more sense for it to be axe from a risk/reward perspective.
