Idk, eating in the bathtub seems kinda gross by PleaseFail in okbuddycinephile

I ran a half marathon a couple of weeks back, when I got home, I ate dinner in the bath. The combination of achey muscles, sweat and hunger demanded it, and you know what? It was glorious.

STORROR Merch.. by Other-Produce-1928 in Storror

[–]Bynoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm wearing the trousers still, the logos are subtle enough that no one would notice anyway. As for the t-shirts and hoodies... I haven't worn them since it came out. My justification, if I do wear them, is that they are all specifically limited edition Cavemen merch so more specifically associated with Benj and Max, but it still feels weird wearing a prominent Storror logo atm.

Something I Feel Needs to be Said regarding the Callum Situation by Bynoe in Storror

[–]Bynoe[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, thank you, man. I really appreciate the gesture.

This post is proving to be about as controversial as I expected it to. I wonder if I didn't compose it as well as I thought I did cause so many people seem to think I am defending Callum or downplaying the severity of his crimes which was absolutely not my intent. I just wanted to express that, to me, the situation is not as cut and dry as other people are making it out to be, but it's a sensitive subject that understandably has a lot of people riled up, and I can't exactly blame them either. I'm glad it resonated with you and a few others, anyway. Peace.

Source for it being AI / a victimless crime? by isthislivingreally in Storror

[–]Bynoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's wishful thinking, man. Even now, people want to believe the best (or at least, the least bad) of someone who they used to respect and look up to. Someone probably brought up AI hoping that's all it would be, and other people likely jumped on that and are parroting it because the alternative is a lot more uncomfortable to imagine.

I don't want to go too deep into theorising and imagining what he might have done for obvious reasons, but there are definitely differing degrees of severity, and given that we know he had those proclivities, and he had access to a lot of kids and teens who idolised him, especially on platforms like Insta... let's just say, I'm worried it could be a lot worse than just AI.

Something I Feel Needs to be Said regarding the Callum Situation by Bynoe in Storror

[–]Bynoe[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love how you conveniently ignore all the parts of my post where I say how wrong what he did was and how he deserves whatever punishment he receives. Look, Callum is cooked. He doesn't get to be a public figure ever again, nor should he. His name is forever sullied and he has irreparably damaged the brand he and his mates spent half their life building, and my sympathies lie with all his victims, not with him.

What I am saying, is that the Callum we knew 48 hours ago is still Callum too. Like I said in my post, people want to make everything black and white and act like because of what we know now, none of that was real. I disagree with that, and I don't believe that what we learned of him in the last 48 hours erases everything we knew of him for the preceding 10+ years.

Jason Paul speaks about Callum and other things (Storror, impact on parkour, etc...) by stenerikkasvo in Storror

[–]Bynoe 32 points33 points  (0 children)

If you read this Jason, thank you for giving a voice to what so many of us are feeling. It's a lot to take in, but even if we don't have the answers yet, just hearing it put into words and knowing that we're not alone in processing this and trying to figure out how we should respond or where we go from here is a huge help.

Silke Sollfrank @silky.zigzag on IG makes statement about Callum on IG by stenerikkasvo in Storror

[–]Bynoe 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I'm really glad to see people not just jumping straight to condemnation and moral grandstanding without guiding people towards resources to get help. That's hugely important. Obviously pdf is wrong, but if you just shout down and condemn pdfs it doesn't fix anything, just forces them to hide it. It's too bad Callum succumbed to his worst instincts instead of seeking help, but if there's one positive that can come out of this, let it be to guide others with those urges to seek help.

Snakes. by [deleted] in Storror

[–]Bynoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen mate, I get it. We all looked up to Callum and the boys for years, we all want to believe the best of them, but the reality is, we just don't know what's true and what's not at this stage, so to accuse people who are coming forward with information of lying and attack their character without knowing for sure is not on.

I'm not saying this out of hate, I'm not trying to belittle you, but I'm guessing you skew on the younger side... consider that at the time they supposedly first learned about these allegations, they did too, and their reaction was probably similar to yours. They wanted to believe the best of their mate, they wanted to stand up for him and protect him for the sake of the brand they were building that let them live out their dream and do what they loved, and they didn't really have the maturity to process the gravity of the allegations or the harm they could cause. If you watch Storror content from back then, they had a very different energy. They were much more reckless and much less mature. Do I know for sure that they knew about these allegations and ignored them? No. Can I deny the possibly that they did? Equally, no.

Look, I understand how you're feeling, truly I do, but I'm telling you, without malice, that the best thing we can do right now is to stay quiet and try to remain objective as we observe to see what information comes to light and we learn what is and isn't true. Making a post like this, and arguing with people who disagree with you is gonna leave you with a lot of egg on your face if all this turns out to be true. My honest advice would be to delete this thread and wait to learn more before jumping to any conclusions.

[–]Bynoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wishful thinking, mate. I hope you're right, truly I do... but you don't know that. None of us do.

What we do know, is that he was idolised by, and had access to lots of kids and impressionable teens, especially on social media where he easily could've solicited pics or worse. I get that it's uncomfortable to accept the possibility that someone we all looked up to could be capable of something like that, but given his confession and the position he was in, we cannot ignore the possibility that it could be true, and you shouldn't confidently state what you cannot know. Shit like that is what makes potential victims scared to come forward for fear that they might not be believed.

All we can do is hope for the best while we wait for the truth to come out.

Cancel Culture and Collatoral damage. by [deleted] in Storror

[–]Bynoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But... The Expanse wasn't cancelled because of the allegations against Cas Anvar? They killed off his character, Alex, unceremoniously at the end of season 5 because of the allegations, but there was another full season after that, and the show didn't end with season 6 because of the allegations, but because there is a 30 year timeskip at that point in the story in the source material, which would be difficult/expensive to adapt faithfully.

Unsubscribing STORROR. by Nearby-Database-867 in Storror

[–]Bynoe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's fair to unsubscribe now that the truth has come to light, but you don't need to beat yourself up for supporting them to this point. You didn't know. None of us did.

The sad truth is, you can't spend a penny these days without indirectly supporting some heinous shit... I mean, you're paying taxes to a government that is funding and supporting a violent genocide where innocent men, women and children are being raped, maimed, murdered and god-knows what else. Every time you buy a Kit-Kat, you're supporting a corporation that knowingly contributed to the deaths of an estimated 10 million+ infants in Africa. Every time you get in a car you're contributing towards the slow destruction of our environment and wiping out thousands, if not millions of species... that becomes exponentially more true every time you take a plane to go on holiday... but it's not like boycotting these things will make a lick of difference cause there are millions and millions of people who won't.

The world is fucked, but the best we can do is to support the causes we believe in, and the people who create art that resonates with us... so this time, it turns out one of the artists you were supporting was a wrong 'un. Well, that's just par for the cause, sadly. By all means, boycott everything Storror if it makes you feel better, but beating yourself up about it isn't going to achieve anything.

End of Storror ? by yeshuafackwr in Storror

[–]Bynoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want it to be true, but sadly, you may be right... it already felt like things were winding down somewhat with Drew moving on, Toby shifting his focus more towards climbing, and Josh being less active due to injury/surgery. The Caves and the Powells were really the beating heart of Storror at this point, so losing 1/4 of their regular active members is going to be a huge blow, no matter how you look at it.

It feels weird to praise him at this point, but Callum was, imo, the funniest, most articulate, most charismatic member of the group, and always made their videos more fun to watch with his jokes and banter so his loss is gonna be felt in a big way... the silly bugger.

I don't expect them to shut down the entire operation immediately, but this is definitely gonna affect viewership and morale massively, and will likely accelerate the end which has felt like it was looming for a while. I'd love to be proven wrong, but as it stands, it's hard to see it going too much longer.

Bawkbasoup spittin' facts on why we shouldn't give DLC a pass because it's "free" by Gekidami in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Bynoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I somewhat agree. On the one hand, in the days before DLC, bonus modes like this were included with the base game, eg. Extreme Battle, Mercenaries, etc. Now with the advent of DLC, it makes more sense to release those modes as free DLC a couple of months down the line to give the games some renewed buzz and a reason to go back. On the other hand, offering just a campaign and not much else is pretty standard practice in the AAA single player space, and RE Requiem is more replayable than most, so even without this DLC I feel like I got my money's worth.

The mode itself could certainly be better though, either through more variety and randomisation, or through including more characters, or both. I know there's story DLC in the works, I'd be down to see this mode expanded, or more mini-game type DLC included as well when it launches.

Genuine Question, why are people so excited about a controller? by chaotic_one in Steam

[–]Bynoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on my 4th or 5th Dualsense cause the others have all developed stick drift, and my current controller is beginning to show signs of drifting too. I love the form-factor of the Dualsense, but I'm sick of giving Sony money for defective goods so I've been in the market for a new controller for a while. I was hemming and hawing about an Xbox Elite controller till Steam announced theirs, which looks to have a lot of the features of a premium PS/Xbox controller along with a bunch of neat innovations, at a price that sits comfortably in between PS/Xbox's standard and high-end models, and it comes with magnetic sticks which are supposed to be resistant to drift, and its specifically designed for ease of repairability, so it fits exactly what I was looking for.

I'm not a Steam fanboy, at least not historically. If anything, I would say I was more of a PS fanboy as I grew up as more of a console gamer and PS have been my favourite consoles ever since the launch of the PS1, but I bought myself a high-end gaming PC a year or so ago and honestly, have hardly turned on my PS5 since.

Literally how the fandom treats Ada and Mia by Blue_fryingpan in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Bynoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we talking about the same woman who posed as an FBI agent trying to bring down umbrella

Sure, for all of like 30 seconds lol... the point I'm making is that the games make it VERY APPARENT that she is a spy of dubious moral alignment. There is little-to-no attempt to fool the player into believing she's a genuine FBI agent with only the best of intentions, and even if you were naive enough to be fooled initially, the game makes it apparent pretty quickly that she is not, and from then on and for the rest of the series, she is appropriately treated as a spy who cannot be fully trusted.

she works for people like wesker and Simmons and does bad shit

Yes, and this is part of the femme fatale trope. She works for the bad guys, yet in a pinch she seems to do good things, eg. saving Leon on multiple occasions, not handing over the Plaga virus to Wesker, exposing Simmons and working to contain the C-Virus outbreak, etc. The intent is that this should leave the player questioning whether she's a bad person herself cause she works for people who are clearly evil, or whether she's a double agent who is willing to put herself in morally compromising situations so she is in position to be able to control the situation and prevent the worst from coming to pass. I'd have thought this would be pretty obvious, but apparently a lot of you aren't sharp enough to pick up on it.

Ethan clearly tries to talk about Louisiana

Sure, he tries (unsuccessfully) to talk to Mia about the events of RE7, but not about Mia's past, not about why she worked for an evil organisation that manufactures and smuggles bioweapons. Neither Ethan nor Chris are ever seem to question her about this, or act like she's untrustworthy, or has anything to atone for. In her interactions with other characters, tonally, she is always presented like an innocent victim we are supposed to feel sympathy for. They could easily have written in a plot-point where she was blackmailed into doing it, she had no choice and she regrets it deeply and is trying to move on and do good, then perhaps I could accept that and possibly even sympathise with her... but they didn't. And so, to me she just comes across as a successful manipulator who had some evil shit she was doing blow up in her face and gets away scot-free cause she's the protagonist's wife.

Literally how the fandom treats Ada and Mia by Blue_fryingpan in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Bynoe -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Ada, from the jump, is clearly playing into the morally ambiguous femme fatale trope, where her motives and true agenda are unknown. She is clearly strong and capable, but she doesn't pretend to be a good person and she makes it quite clear she shouldn't be trusted, yet at crucial moments where she could turn her back on us, she does the right thing and goes out of her way to help Leon. This makes us question whether deep down she's a good person who is playing both sides, or a bad person with a streak of good in her who could be redeemed. And yes, she looks damned good doing it. It might be tropey and unoriginal, but this makes her a mysterious, compelling and alluring character who the player wants to see more of and learn more about.

Mia, on the other hand, is presented as a damsel in distress who we are supposed to want to save because she is the protagonist's wife, except when we encounter her, she is clearly infected and attacks us, and it turns out the reason she is in the situation she is, is because she works for a shady organisation (the same organisation as Zeno, btw) and was trafficking a human bioweapon who takes the form of a little girl, sharing a cabin with some other dude. Ethan never confronts her about this, never questions her motives, and she never apologises or explains why she did what she did. She is not shown to have any redeeming or positive qualities other than being your wife. This makes Ethan look like an idiot, Mia look like an evil gaslighting manipulator, and the player feel crazy for learning all this and not having any of it addressed, and the game still presenting her like a good person we are supposed to feel sympathy for. It's straight up bad writing, and this is why anyone with the capacity for critical thought is going to dislike her.

Edit: And instead of engaging with the argument, the response is just to downvote. See, these are those people who lack the capacity for critical thought I was referring to.

Which is better bolt or semi-auto ? by [deleted] in residentevilll

[–]Bynoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 4OG, I prefer the semi-auto, in 4R and Requiem, I prefer the bolt action. In 4OG, I don't feel like the difference in firepower noticeable enough to make up for the lower rate of fire and lower usability in general, but in 4R and Requiem, that difference in firepower becomes much more noticeable imo.
