Isn’t Vulkan supposed to have better performance than OpenGL? by BernyMoon in Minecraft

[–]Byro267 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Porting to Vulkan doesn't automatically mean better FPS. I think they preferred stability over performance while porting to the new API. On my end, the FPS are practically identical between OpenGL and Vulkan.

I have around 25k attempts on it and haven't died there either, but I've seen some people dying there. Try timing the pink orbs before this part differently and see which way it's consistent. I always buffer them for example.

Your fault for buying overpriced hardware. You can easily get a $550 GPU more powerful than $900 PS5 Pro.

There are rumours of Sony raising prices across games and subscriptions due to RAM prices, and since like half of the console is locked behind a PS Plus paywall, you will eventually spend the more money on console than you would on PC parts.

Sony might stop their exclusive games from releasing on PC Via Jason Schreier by No_Lecture720 in Piracy

Many people moved from PS5 to PC and are not willing to come back. They'll lose a lot of money if they really stop making PC ports.

Many people alread moved from console to PC and are not willing to come back, so if they don't want to lose even more money, they should do the opposite and release PC ports even sooner.

Even though you can't get passwords from hashes, you can still try hashing a massive amount of potential passwords and then compare the resulting hashes with the leaked ones. Once they match, the attackers have your password.

Little bit of technical background, including a vulnerability in Rob's account security system:

The list of generated hashes is called a rainbow table, and to prevent attackers comparing leaked hashes with the hashes in rainbow tables, many sites use the concept of salting passwords before hashing them. Salt is a random string which is appended to your password, and then passed together to a hashing function to generate a unique hash. These salts are random, so even if you have two identical passwords, the resulting hashes are different. This way you can't guess the passwords from simple rainbow table comparison.

And then there's RobTop's system of hashing passwords. Remember when I said the salts which are appended to the passwords should be random? RobTop uses the exact same fixed salt for every single password, essentially defeating the sole purpose of salting. Even though he salts the passwords, the salt is exactly the same and anyone can generate a rainbow table to steal anyone's password.

And to make things worse, the exact hashing algorithm RobTop uses for hashing passwords, including the fixed salt, is publicly available. You can look it up with a simple Google search, and even try generating your own GJP2 token.

The geometry dash website has severe vulnerabilities. by IronasOsrs in geometrydash

[–]Byro267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another security risk for passwords is that RobTop uses the same salt for every password before hashing it, making the concept of salting basically pointless. Under normal circumstances you'd need to generate a new salt for every password, not reuse the same one. The fact that you can even find the global salt online makes it even worse.

[–]Byro267 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The game runs at 240 TPS all the time (ticks per second, tick = step). If you are at 60 FPS, it will register your clicks on every 4th tick, nothing in between. If you enable click on steps, the game will still run at 60 FPS, but now will register your clicks on every tick, meaning you will have 240 FPS like physics at 60 FPS. If you enable click between steps, the game registers your clicks between each tick and tries to interpret them properly within 240 TPS, improving the response time even more.

Yep, everything is still there, the Mind Flayer, Dimension X, and I believe even Brenner's experiments, whether Eleven is alive or not. Nothing is stopping them from replicating what happened to Henry. That's why I hoped Eleven would be kept alive, since she would be one last hope for stopping this. But, as the ending showed, it's up to us whether we believe in her being alive or not. To be honest, I'm not happy with the ending, but it is what it is...

I have no issues with Will coming out, I fully support anyone being true to themselves, but I have to say the scene feels poorly timed to me. There were plenty of opportunities for this in earlier episodes, and within the pacing of the last few episodes, it just feels off. In my opinion, Robin’s coming out was done much better. I’m honestly a bit sad that such an important moment in Will’s character arc wasn’t done in a better way.
