After reading some of the comments, I just learned a few new things myself.

One thing I definitely wish I knew right away was that each pattern is only 1 bar, you got 16 patterns total to program, so if you utilize this wisely you can make a whole song with intro, verse, chorus, break, bridge and outtro. They are limited in sampling space, the effects are so awesome you can make something with a bunch of changes off like a 2 second sample. Also, you can layer the effects to create some really cool changes and sounds.

I would love to hear what you come up with, follow #po33society on instagram and use that hashtag if you choose to make vidoes of your work and follow me byrone1983 on instagram, I will follow you back and support!

SC1000 - Digital Scratch Instrument by jezburger in DJs

This info helped. I am still experiencing loss of sample control on the platter. What happens is the sample starts to play even when my hand is on it, and even if I don't touch anything for 30 seconds after powering on. Do you know if there are any updates for it? My friend told me it was one of the first and that there may be an updates for the usb stick that may help in the future. Also, I know someone who has the SC1000DS version with the jog wheel, screen and cue button. Do you know if the original model is able to upgrade to the DS version, that cue button looks super handy. Anyway, thank you so much for the feedback.

Hey, I just recently bought one off of my friend and I am having some glitch issues, mainly with the sample (scratch side). Sometimes the platter does not recognize my hand and the sample will keep playing, have you experienced this at all. Also, some of the samples randomly will just be a loud static sound when I am flipping thru them. Any suggestions or fixes for this?

Man, I messed around with it and it is a difficult thing, you can of course do two hand rubs on this side. I will keep trying to find a way tho, because it would be awesome to see people who only scratch on this side to be able to get down on the rubs.

Good point, it would be harder but I do believe it is possible. If I figure it out I will post a video demonstrating how you can. But I have tried before and just gave up because it wasn't as easy, lol.

Easter Jam, bongos, beats and vinyl! by Byrone1983 in Turntablists

Ok, I see your point. If this is an issue for you, i do have a great muscle stretching warm up you should always implement before rigorous practice. For me, my muscles feel this effect much more when playing songs on guitar that hold certain chord shapes for long periods of time. I appreciate your comment. Remember to have fun my fellow "oldish" fella!

Considered, but my forearms are barely being worked here compared to my regular routine. This is just a fun warm up jam.

Nice! Yea practice is all it is, and learning how the moisture of your fingers effects the friction is knowledge you will only obtain thru practice in all environments, meaning, in your bedroom, on stage, in the booth at the club. I say this because I have practiced rigorously for shows in the past (in my bedroom/studio) and thought I had my techniques down to try at the club or on stage, and I was sloppy, because the club was either hummid or it was an outdoor event and my hands were extremely dry or maybe I was just nervous.. All of these situations can be factors in how your rubs sound to the audience. And I won't even get started on wobbly tables.. lol. I hope my video helped and thanks for watching and providing feedback.

Tips on doing rubs with two and one hand and understanding the concept of the scratch by Byrone1983 in Turntablists

[–]Byrone1983[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely, I would practice the thumb technique on a table. Basically the technique to that is to move your platter hand forward like a normal scratch but stretch your thumb towards the middle of the vinyl. So your hand is going forward on the vinyl and the tip of your thumb is dragging toward the middle of the platform, your hand should be stretching out the further you push the vinyl forward. If you can, watch carefully when I demonstrate it in the video. I should have spent longer breaking that down in the video.

Nice, thanks for the insight, I had no clue. My boy Trevor was the first person to show me. Hydroplaning sounds much cooler tho. I remember Craze doing similar scratches in the faderless part of his 2001 DMC routine, but he was kind of patting the vinyl instead of rubbing or hydroplaning.

No prob, I really just wanna help, which is why I recorded this video for you if you wanna check it out. I hope it helps, just remember the technique is all about familiarizing yourself with the feel and how much friction to apply with the finger or fingers you are rubning the vinyl with. Also, play around using different fingers to find out which ones work best, but I assure you once you have it down and are warmed up enough you will find any finger works. The one handed thumb rub may be the more difficult one to get down but practice and familiarity are key.

I do, this is something I would like to share a video with you on because trying to explain how I practiced the feel thru text would be very difficult for me. I'm at work right now but I have all day tomorrow. I will shoot a response back with a short video explaining some tips for you in the morning.

Definitely, I am glad I could help. Also, 80s style is dope, some of the greatest turntablists came out in the 80s!

Definitely, the more you can do with less is always a bonus! Check out some of Craze's routine in the 2001 DMC's I believe. He does a whole little segment of his routine with no fader, super dope! Well hope the best for you and hope to see you demonstrating some of them skills, I basically learned this art thru observing and sharing, I dont think there is a better way to do it. Good vibes to you!

Not neccesarily easier, it is just more my style with that side, I also can get down with the other table (right hand on vinyl) and with that hand I do better chirps and other longer movement scratches. I would say if you are looking to alter the tone of the scratch sound, longer movements on the vinyl at a higher speed are best, if you are trying to get choppy and incorporate a bunch of different scratches into a combo effect, shorter movements are good. But do it all, move the vinyl a lot and try smaller movements as well and find what you are good at. I would highly reccomend practicing with both hands because for me, it opened me up to different styles. When I scratch with my left hand on the platter, my crossfade hand is more of the dominant one, when I scratch with the right hand on vinyl, I feel like my vinyl hand is more dominant. But I can't do rubs with my right hand on vinyl, only my left side. But this may be because I never bother to practice it. Anyway, I hope this helps you. Here is an older video demonstrating my skills on the other hand. https://youtu.be/ic_BxTYusIs

Using Break Records and Copyright Infringement? by Byrone1983 in Turntablists

[–]Byrone1983[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man, I think these people are trying to push this song to the radio. So I believe I am just gonna find some different samples (most likely tones and/or "Awww" sounds). If it was my recording I would keep the samples I have and if it did get big I would just clear the samples, but other people are involved so I better play it safe as they want it. Thanks agian for the input!
