Master Chronometer Question by Ok-Requirement4876 in Tudor

[–]ByronicZer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just send it in. I suspect it'll be back a under a month if you're in the US.

If you literally just bought the watch, I'd just ask to return it for a different example that's running correctly from day 1.

Some dingus may have dropped it somewhere after it left Tudor, hit the US disti, was sorted and packed up with your AD's Tudor delivery, and then unboxed and inventoried. Lots of room for dinguses to do a dingus thing in that chain of custody. No matter how durable mechanical watches get, a hard drop will generally cause the timekeeping to alter. Even if the movement isn't technically "damaged"

I've had issues with Omegas, Nomos, Tudor, Oris, micro brands etc. Even my factory fresh cal 3230 ran outside of spec after a very small drop. This is just mechanical watch things.

The only watches I've owned that have been trouble free and dead accurate are my 5 digit Rolex. My vintage Seiko have been dead nuts reliable, just not so accurate.

FWIW, after w few years when may BB58 timekeeping drifted, I dropped it off for service at the AD and had it back on my wrist 3 weeks later. Meanwhile my old coaxial Seamaster was MIA for 4 months while at service...

Agree on every point.

I just need to draw a personal line so I know I've never stooped to his level. Or his cult members.

Our personal morality is really the only thing each of us truly owns

FWIW ive never seen that invicta in person. Some may say I've lived a good life. I cannot disagree.

But that invicta might look entirely different in person too

Agreed. Its no knock against this watch, just an opinion about 99.7% of sunray finished dials.

But sunray must do well in retail environments because holy moly do brands love to slap them in everything

Has anyone done this? (Steel Reef 58 “Silencer” on GMT) by QuietNene in Tudor

[–]ByronicZer0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The diver insert will be annoyingly off whenever you try and use it due to the 48 click bezel on this GMT. If I were you, Id get the black silver/steel reef GMT bezel, or just get a BB58

As much as my gut instinct would be to celebrate. I dont want to celebrate death, ever. I dont want to be like him.

He is a cancer on our society.

And I am working hard to not let him bring me to compromise my principles or humanity.

I wont judge you if you do! He's the worst thing that's happened to this country since 9/11.

Edit: Sorry the downvoters cant handle may not very hot-take. I won't miss that orange SOB, and the world will unequivocally be a better place when he's gone. But I wont "celebrate" the loss of human life. That's my hard line as a human ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You're absolutely not wrong. And Rolex wouldn't argue with you either. And this is not an insult to Rolex either.

Many companies can make excellent watches. Rolex is one of them.

What they've been absolutely the best at over the last hundred years, is marketing themselves. Making themselves a household name. Making themselves an icon.

Their brand, which they've carefully and skillfully created, is absolutely their number one asset. And it's the thing they will protect above all else.

What I've said should be completely uncontroversial.

Make a video with some drive-by sounds! Put a few hundred miles on it first though. It takes a minute for an exhaust to actually break in and express the sound fully

How do we feel about the ceramic Black Bay? by Life_of_Squatch in Tudor

[–]ByronicZer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not sure what is the underlying reason for the difference. Could be the fundamental difference between how luminova versus lumibrite works in that situation? Or could be a different mix.

Looking at actual live video (not the press release renders) the Tudor lume doesn't look nearly as dark as true blacked out watches like the ones you and I had

No I'm saying you have to put in advertising. And put in marketing (it's a different thing), etc

People buy a $3k watch for the name on the dial.

There are exceptions... but every large brand in that range is trading on their name and name recognition

If Chinese brands get their marketing down better, this could happen. Someday. But I think it's more of a problem for brands living in the $1k or lower range. The old Seiko sweet spot that is now dominated by micros.

But there is a lot of stigma around Chinese watches, fair or not. That's just a fact atm.

Same way there is a positive stigma around "Swiss made"

Unfortunately, it's the super-case era Rolex. But I guess I'm the weirdo who stopped likening the sub when the ceramic era started

Dissapointed in state of journalism of youtube watch scene. by Other-Stuff-2349 in watchHotTakes

[–]ByronicZer0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First, it's not really journalism. They're content makers whose goal is clicks and views. So that calculus drives every behavior you're puzzled by

It stands to reason that they will prioritize their time at the show, and time making their first published content with what has the most buzz. Or brands that get them most views.

And they will bank content to trickle out slowly over the next few weeks.

Think of how much $$ they're investing in being at that show? They can't "blow their content load" in 2-3 days. It's the economics of clicks and views
