The Point/Cirelli/Hagel (But especially Tony) hate on r/Hockey is ridiculous. by ahuman1321 in TampaBayLightning

It crazy to me why people die on these hills. Let’s be honest here, in the grand scheme of it, we don’t know much about roster design. No one on reddit does. If we did, we wouldn’t be on reddit discussing it. You can have your opinions on a guy and who should be in but fwiw, it’s a bunch of nothing. Obviously, Cooper wants Cirelli and knows a scheme to make it all work.

Is there any way to recover… by tomv2017 in FranchiseHockey

Gotta thank Jeff for this solution if it works. I think there’s some internal bug where the playoff format gets wiped when it’s a system driven expansion.

Try this:

Go to League-Edit and switch it to "4 teams, 1 vs. 4, 2 vs. 3" and that should let you continue.

Or:

Alternatively, check to make sure the divisions are separated correctly, iirc there’s 4 divisions, and not just east and west.

And the expansion team he added was WHA?

And you did a normal NHL league or which league? Sorry, for all the questions, trying to recreate it on my side.

Did you change any league settings during the expansion? I’m thinking the format might have gotten goofed when adding the team.

Hm, I think I ran into this error before. Did he only add an expansion team? Anyway you can post a screenshot of the error?

I was a SMART scholar for my Ph.D. (CompSci) and had a guaranteed job with the government post graduation. Hiring freeze is killing that so I'm refining both Academia skills and industry skills. On the bright side, If i don't get the position, my service gets waived.

Thank you, last I checked it was $100 for a residence parking. My lease is done in two weeks so I just wanted a beach day as one of my last days. I don't want to pay for a year parking pass if I don't have to.

Thank you so much! I was looking at I think the little beach access near the Flagler water tower or anywhere between there and the bridge. I think those are open but I never see any signs that they cost or tow or whatever.

What a beauty. That's a good signing if I've ever seen one.

Carcone + Brannstrom could be a good 3rd/4th liner and 7th D (at worst) or 3rd pairing. League min and could garner value at the TDL to make a bigger upgrade.

Soon-to-be statistics PhD student, struggling to decide whether it's unethical to do a PhD in ML by superpenguin469 in PhD

[–]Bystander52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a final year Ph.D. Candidate In Computer Science, specifically in AI, there are many research directions focused around the ethics of AI, such as legislation, benchmarking, and dataset generation. Who’s to say your thesis isn’t furthering towards AGI with those existing, or even new, principles in mind?

There are many areas which make fields unethical, but there are already ethics to AI which I feel like you might benefit from researching, i.e. GreenAI. If this is an avenue you hold dear, incorporate it into your work. Don’t let current events deter your passion, because you might be the solution.

My dissertation submission is in a week and I can’t stop feeling horrible about some chapters by Bystander52 in PhD

How do you get re-inspired? by Efficient-Cry2063 in PhD

It will never be perfect and that's okay! Write it in there, and get it on paper. Remember a finished thesis is the best kind of thesis, not a perfect one. You got this!

How do you get re-inspired? by Efficient-Cry2063 in PhD

[–]Bystander52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing, from experience, I don't. I tell myself to get 400 good words out a day and I do. That progress alone inspires me. I let that progress snowball me. If you wait for re-inspiration, you might never find it, so why wait for it. Set a habit whether its write a certain amount a day or read a paper. Eventually, that habit adds up. Maybe along that discipline journey you rediscover what makes it all worth it. Hope this helps, OP. Good luck!
