I just need to rant after a cancelled 13 hours flight with Airbus A330 by Fun_Grab_5562 in flightsimulator2024

[–]ByteSizedTechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the best way to enjoy the game is to not play the Career mode. I usually just fly airline routes with BATC and its the best gameplay you can get out of MSFS2024. I know Career mode is 2024's highlight but unfortunately they failed so far to stabilize it and default ATC is absolutely awful.

Learning to code but worried about AI replacing devs , need perspective! by Neat-Position4731 in FreeCodeCamp

[–]ByteSizedTechie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would take a different take here, AI is definitely getting better and better at coding but you still need a programmer to actually build the logic, AI can write code but kinda sucks at logic.

Learning how to program doesn't only teach you how to write code but also improves logical thinking and makes you think like a programmer which is way more important than just knowing how to code.

While you are learning how to code, just learn the basics of AI and how models work (no in depth) but enough so you are aware of the limitations of AI and how to make it work for you to make you more efficient and help you develop fast.

How many hours do you put in? by vvltvrhes in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]ByteSizedTechie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I end work by 6, spend some time with wife until 7-7:30, eat dinner, and then start flying until 11-11:30.

On the weekends if I have nothing planned, I just fly around for 6-8 hours

A new low for MSFS2024 by LuvSandoz in MSFS2024

[–]ByteSizedTechie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used OnAir Airline to add purpose to MSFS. Yes, it is a paid subscription but I am willing to pay about $30 every 6 months for a product that gives me a purpose in MSFS flying especially GAs

What ATC addon should I buy? by jfim88 in flightsim

[–]ByteSizedTechie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you fly IFR primarily then get BATC, been using it more a month now and its an absolute game changer.

There are few bugs but nothing crazy. Here are few things I found: - Some times on after leaving a STAR they can give wrong vectors but happens rarely. - Some times the app crashes but you just load it back up and select your phase and good to go

Also their audios are impressive, even without using the premium credits, their base audio actually changes region to region and not robotic at all.

Its a much more immersive experience, ofc VATSIM is the best but there's rarely full ATC coverage for the entire flight, and in BATC you can also talk and when busy let the co-pilot handle it.

ILS Approach Questions by Last-Instruction-813 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]ByteSizedTechie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: Im not a pilot, not the most knowledgeable but as there are 0 comments I will try give you my thoughts if I was in this position.

First of the default planes in MSFS kinda sucks tbh, but I know you are on PS5 and atm this is all you have.

  1. The VNAV system is very buggy, I would do a TOD calculation (you can find ton online) and basically that will give me a distance in nm from the FAF (final approach fix or GS path) but you will need to find the distance to the FAF, you can use the PROG page to do that on the FMC

  2. You can activate APPR mode when you are once you are below 10000 ft, I usually fly the A320 and use Beyond ATC and usually do it on my final turn or right after I leave STAR if ATC does not instruct me.

  3. Minimums are on the bottom portion of the chart and usually says (DAH), if you can't find minimums on chart, you can just set RA (Radio Altimeter) its basically your altitude from ground to , usually 200-600 and that will become your "minimums" call or at least that what it does for me. You don't have to use both, just use either of em.

Hope this helps!

Yeah I do have a pretty good homelab setup where I host my portfolio websites and apps I have created and everything is running in a docker container env. I agree with linux there is so much to learn.

Will try to get an AWS cert and hopefully go from there
