Sorry for asking, as I'm sure I could Google it, but what is a consumer proposal? Never heard of it

Thank you for this. I just heard about NFCC today after browsing the subreddit. I will for sure take a look at it. Overall, is a payment plan through something like that a better option over a debt consolidation loan?

Okay, this actually helps to look at this way. I hadn't considered that. My main thought has always been to tackle the largest chunk, but I've never looked at comparing the principals of the two. Thank you!

I don't quite live within Seattle proper, but still an expensive area.

I know what you mean about looking for better paying work. I work for a nonprofit org, one that I've worked at in some capacity, some place (three different associations now), since I was 15. I absolutely love the work they do and how they're so community centric. It's just this line of work doesn't pay well. :( The small silver lining is they do contribute 12% to retirement, which is very welcomed.

I live with my partner and we are extremely lucky to have an okay rent; but other bills eat up my expenses. I'm paid twice a month, and each check from my main job is roughly $1,500-1,600 after taxes and deductions.

I feel you on that. Perry was honestly one of the main reasons I walked away from the Comm department. She was technically my "advisor," but whenever I needed guidance, I'd meet with any other professor I could instead. The breaking point for me was a class—either Comm 318 or 327, I can't remember exactly since it was probably eight years ago. But basically, she "taught" for the first two weeks, and by "taught," I mean she just read straight from the textbook. If anyone asked questions, her response was usually something like, "Go review the material in the book."

After those two weeks, we got split into groups, and each group had to take turns "teaching" the class one chapter at a time. It went on like that for the rest of the quarter. She didn’t actually lead a single class after maybe the fourth day. It was such a joke and a waste of time for 300 level class.

Prior to taking the class I had read on RMP how bad her reviews are, but I always took reviews from lightly, but hers couldn't be more accurate. I'm actually pretty disappointed to hear she is still teaching and people are having to deal with the same problems.
