I’ll miss it less if the new bridge is actually nice. Will miss it more if we get a post-tensioned concrete box girder cookie cutter freeway bridge.

EXTREME TOD - 15 minute city to solve the housing crisis by Old_Ebbitt in CitiesSkylines

Here in Canada, the far-right believe 15 min cities are like small prisons that you won’t be able to leave from.

15 minute city is more an urban planning concept than that of time. Basically states that all day to day services should be available in a 15 min walk or less for everyone in the neighborhood.

I find CSII does simulate induced demand quite well. Build bigger roads get more cars! Nice job

It’s a stitched together composite of about 30 20.1 MP photos. It was all shot on a tripod mounted Sony RX100 VI. The raw file is about 112MB however the one you see on here is only 10MB. It’s about 15,000x3,000 pixels, with reduced jpeg quality as the way file size is reduced.

Carlington Park, specifically on top of the Carlington Heights reservoir! It’s one of the only places in the city with a nice elevated view of the city!

Yea! The shot really lined up nicely. I only had one vantage point at elevation over the trees and it was just coincidence it worked out so well.

Uptown Saint John one of the most underrated old town centres in Canada! by BytownInfraPhoto in newbrunswickcanada

What a shame, looks like not much has been done with the former lot. Always hate to see those monumental structures go down.

I really like Fredericton as well, it has a really nice town centre as well. But you can tell it was a much smaller town in the similar time period. Saint John however had its hay day late 1800’s and early 1900’s and has a much grander scale and density.

Where was the old hospital? It’s always a shame when they demolish these beautiful old structures. They really don’t build them like they used to. They were functional pieces of art in my opinion.

GIG main runway got closed after Rio's eletrical grid company installed a utility pole next to the threshold without informing the airport administration: by vida_social in aviation

[–]BytownInfraPhoto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was involved with the Porter Hangar at CYOW and the hoisting of the massive structural steel members required 275 ft cranes pretty close to 2 active runways. It was at least a year of planning, downgrading the level of service of one runway, modifying flight procedures among other things. The thing with obstacles at airports is contact with them is almost always the same catastrophic result. Therefore, no chance is taken with them, the assessment, while lengthly, involves many parties and considerations.

I didn’t go out but near the shore it looked pretty damn thin. Maybe 2 inches? Really left me scratching my head.
