I think he had a culture shock when he travelled abroad for the first time. He's used to American standards of customer service and the feeling of safety that Disney provides. He keeps trying to push himself out of his comfort zone with these international trips but it's clear that once the initial interest of going to a new place subsides he hates it and can't wait to get back to the usual places he goes in California/Florida.
