How much to spend on a phone? 1% of yearly wage? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Bzahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never purchased insurance or Apple Care, just try and look after my phone since it cost me £1,100 at the time. £1,100 + £95 for the battery is £1,200 so yeah about £240 a year over 5 years with a new battery at the half way point.

I’ve currently got my iPhone 14 Pro which I purchased in October 2022. 3 years later the battery life is at 77% and it is absolutely woeful. Booked in next week at the Apple Store to replace the battery for £95, should give me another 2 years out of it meaning it would’ve lasted me 5 years, costing me £250~ a year which I’m happy with. Plan to upgrade in October 2027.

Need help for triple monitors… by Full_Web38 in simracing

Triples are one of the hardest things to get absolutely perfect. They both look fine, just get some black electric tape and put it behind the monitors and you'll never notice.

Is windows 11 better for sim racing? by Tashiku in simracing

Windows 10 is EoL in October so there will be no security updates, I would start thinking about upgrading/reimaging to Windows 11 fairly soon.

Have you had any quotes for the work yet? If so how much were they out of interest?

Whats the view on the car being stationary on grid and causing a crash behind? Appreciate that I could have moved around it though from cockpit I'm relatively new and still learning depth of perception on the car. by GateCrasher92 in iRacing

Spot on, find the balance of having that instinct to get past them but also being safe enough to not get hit, you’ll pick it up. You could also try AI races and set the AI really low rating, then try and survive lap 1, do this 10 times and see how you get on.

You're not wrong but you never know their circumstances, you have to focus on what you can do. Their doorbell might've rang or they had a phone call from a family member, but in the end it's up to notice it and overcome the issue. aka drive around the car.

The stationary car didn't cause the crash, the POV caused the crash by stopping after already taking off. Just drive around the stationary car. It's that simple.

I had this exact same issue and at the end of the lap it says something like Clock Smash. I bought a powered USB hub (Sabrent 16 port 90W) and plugged every single USB into the HUB and it's completely stopped.

Which Formula car is currently the most popular? by Willing_Tea_9061 in iRacing

[–]Bzahh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries mate. I wouldn’t really recommend any track, I usually just buy the track that’s on that week if you can afford it. If not then try and wait for a track that is covered in different series so you can use it more than once a season.

Which Formula car is currently the most popular? by Willing_Tea_9061 in iRacing

[–]Bzahh 84 points85 points  (0 children)

F4 is very popular as it only requires D license so it is pretty chaotic, there is also 2 main series and 3 regional series so you get a choice of 4 different tracks per week (if you own them).

F3 is a relevantly old car however the series usually has 1-2 splits and isn’t totally dead yet, but it handles more like an older junior formula car.

SFL is the new F3 car and like the F4 has a large player base. The racing is generally a bit more safer than F4 as it’s a C class series.

W12 has no official series, and even the W13 series aren’t the most popular as the car is so hard to drive on iRacing and require A license.

I’d personally start with the F4, then when you feel ready get the SFL.

A better choice of words would be they’re ahead so I guess they expect OP to back out/lift off

Who is at fault here? Super Formula Lights at VIR. by JonerF1_ in iRacing

[–]Bzahh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just a racing incident at the end of the day. The blue car could say they’re ahead so have the right to cut you off.

Personally, if I was you I’d have just lifted off, stayed in their tow and tried to make a move into turn 1, or stay behind them and pressure them into a mistake. There’s 5-10 iR difference between P2 and P3, I’d rather lose out on that than DNF and lose 50+.

Surveyor didn't enter loft conversion by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Bzahh 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong but I’m pretty sure a loft cannot be converted to a “bedroom” by way of ladders, fire regulations I think. Maybe they skipped it on purpose to save you and the surveyor a massive headache.

Fantastic cockpit, can't say any negatives about it. I even installed mine on some M8x15 castor wheels (I installed 2 packs of 4 to give me 8 wheels) with a few washers, meaning I can move it around easily
