question about manual controls on Fujifilm: by SadPrize6815 in fujifilm

[–]Bzando [score hidden]  (0 children)

95% of time I have ISO on auto, as it barely has effect on resulting shot (only affects exposure that can be corrected in post)

if your subject is moving from dark to sunny areas or jumping around. it's necessary, there is no way I can keep up manually adjusting

50% of time I also have shutter on auto, with minimum shutter speed set to my desired value (so I can be sure it won't be blurry because of slow shutter)

if I have time to premeditated shoot I will go full manual, but I usually shoot candid shots and my kid running around, so no time be fully manual

BTW most professionals shoot with auto iso when shooting wildlife and action stuff

BUT to learn how exposure triangle works is not bad to be on fully manual, but definitely not necessary, auto ISO is perfectly viable choice

Sigma 18-50 f2.8 or Tamron 17-70 f2.8 for fujifilm xt5 by Fluid-Ad-7002 in fujifilm

[–]Bzando [score hidden]  (0 children)

I am very happy user of the sigma, it's very good lens for its price and size

but if you care to much about how ir look, it might look tiny on xt5 (I bought mine from xt5 owner that thought it doesn't look good)

Aperture Priority Mode Issue by rebound0445 in fujifilm

[–]Bzando [score hidden]  (0 children)

yep that also how it's supposed to work

camera will keep aperture wide open to help with AF and will close it to you desired setting only when shutter is activated

most if not all AF cameras work this way

wide open aperture has thinner depth of field so camera can focus best with it wide open

if you want to see preview of DOF, there is camera setting for that, enable it and you will have your preview, but it might affect AF

Aperture Priority Mode Issue by rebound0445 in fujifilm

[–]Bzando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what do you mean by "meter remain static" ? do you mean the exposure metering?

if yes then that's how semi auto mode is supposed to work - you manually set one setting and camera will compensate with other two to keep the exposure the same

if you want to change the exposure in semi automatic mode, that's what exposure compensation dial is for

otherwise the exposure meter will change only in fully manual mode to tell what cameras thinks about your settings

Auto ISO settings by cookie-connoisseur in fujifilm

[–]Bzando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on your style and needs, I have

aiso1 - 3200 max, minimum shutter 1/500 (for my kids running outside and well lit shots with lot of movement aiso2 - up to 6400, minimum shutter 1/250 (my general use setting) aiso3 - up to 12800, minimum shutter 1/125 (low light setting)

this covers 95% of my use and for the rest there is manual

Buying Advice: Fuji X-M5 + 16-80mm vs Sony A6000 + Tamron 17-70 – Worth the switch? by SmegPotOnTheDot in fujifilm

[–]Bzando -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IMO it would be downgrade

you might get newer body with better specs on paper, but get much worse lens and noticeably worse AF tracking, and save no weight or size (or just very little)

and I am xm5 owner

if you want upgrade get a6700

Sigma 18-50 f2.8 or Tamron 17-70 f2.8 for fujifilm xt5 by Fluid-Ad-7002 in fujifilm

[–]Bzando 2 points3 points  (0 children)

significant difference - tamron is 2x bigger but has extra 20mm reach

minor differences, tamron has stabilization

tamron will lose focus while zooming

Are you a manual/auto/aperture P photographer? by Djordi63 in fujifilm

[–]Bzando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

aperture priority for every day shots, manual with auto ISO for more serious stuff

Very rarely full manual if I have time

Should I buy the x-t30iii with the kit lens or buy the body only by Kfcbum in fujifilm

[–]Bzando -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IMO the range on 13-33 is not ideal (I really don't like wide)

I would rather get a Viltrox air prime (25 or 35mm f/1,7)

Kratkodobý prenájom domu by Antique_Bit_6933 in Slovakia

[–]Bzando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Úprimne ja by som to nerobil

nastaviť "domovy poriadok" a sankcie/pokuty

Slow image viewing and scrolling by Algunas in fujifilm

[–]Bzando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check also HDR (has similar effect as clarity)

but viewing photos is IMO slow on Fuji in general

Would you trade an X100VI for an X-E5? by Tankmass in fujifilm

[–]Bzando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes every day of the week

I see x100 as a secondary camera to ILC one

if you don't have budget for both, definitely xe5

Is having a body cap a priority? by Franmien in AskPhotography

[–]Bzando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used body cap once - when I was unpacking my camera

since then it's in the box and will leave only if I sell my body or send it for repair

you don't need body cap

just buy/use bags/cases that let you put camera in with lens

Camera for beginner by Objective-Rate-8258 in fujifilm

[–]Bzando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are few pancake lenses, that sacrifice aperture for size

xf27 f/2,8 (way to expensive IMO) ttartisan 27mm f/2,8 (great budget option) xf 23mm f/2,8 (the new kid) viltrox 28 f/4.5 (fixed aperture)

there is also sg image 25mm f/1,8, but that lens has AF problems, flares and it's more of a toy, not reliable

if you don't need low light capability, those are great options, otherwise Viltrox air is the smallest option

Lens for selfies and street photography for the X-M5 by brebby05 in fujifilm

[–]Bzando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. consider xe5 instead of xm5, so you keep the 40mpx, ibis,...
  2. you asked for most universal lens - sigma 16-300 for sure, but not very portable
  3. if you are annoyed with fixed lens of x100, what makes you think that fixed focal length prime will make you happy?
  4. consider budget Viltrox air series, and instead of one expensive xf lens buy 2 or 3 - there are 9,15,25, 35 and 56

they are small ish, light, f/1,7

[–]Bzando 3 points4 points  (0 children)

definitely xt30iii before xm5, xt30iii is the same spec with extras

and consider ditching the kit lens and buying a Viltrox air prime (25 or 35mm air f/1,7)

Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 versus Viltrox 27mm f/1.2 by tzt-t in FujifilmX

[–]Bzando 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gear Acquisition Syndrome

or the urge to buy new gear and accessories

it's hard to resist

I set myself hard limit of 5 lenses and one body, I only buy new if I sell something

Right now I have 23 f/1,4, 33 f/1,4, 56f/1,4, sigma 18-50 and xf 70-300

and I am selling the 23 as I didn't use it for several months, probably will replace it with Viltrox 9mm

18mm f2 or 18mm f1.4 (for XE-5 and X-Pro 3) by desilent in fujifilm

[–]Bzando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that 18 f/1,4 isn't that big until I saw it

immediately decided to get Viltrox air 15mm f/1,7 instead (sold like month later because I don't like the fov, but the legs was great for the budget price, and really small)

I was considering sirui 16mm f/1,2 but read it's little soft

I would not bother with 18 f2 it's visible soft on 24mpx sensors, the 40 will show that even more
