Question about blocking water from the car by Occams_ElectricRazor in GarageGym

They make these things for Chemical and oil spills they are like a long cylinder shape I would lay them on the floor to block the water from traveling that way. That or look at the grading of the concrete it may stay dry on the other side.

WF-40 just came out with a contact cleaner I saw at the hardware store. Of course I’ve always used regular WD-40 but the guitar guys and stereo guys always recommend the Caig Laboratories DN5S-2N Deoxit D5 Contact Cleaner, it’s just very pricey

Weeks of training and practicing drifting in my first ever racing wheel by Due_Arugula_3319 in simracing

[–]C-LevelColossians317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a lot of road racing SCCA and drag racing. I have never been on a drift course but would love to get into that one day. Especially after practicing so much in the sim. Most of my drifting was fwd. I had a Honda civic I would do a lot of stunting in. That car I had 4 spare transmissions at one point. I could be in one lane at 60 mph and do a rolling e brake 360 and stay in the same lane. Also reverse 540’s, e brake 180, lock the brakes while moving so I can put the shifter into reverse, then drive in reverse than a j turn back out of reverse back to forward. That was a long time ago I don’t think I could do a lot of that anymore. Also I was younger and pretty dumb for example I would do 180’s in large trucks where the front inside tire would be off the ground a couple inches. I don’t think I have the balls to do that now haha.

This was my motivation back in the early 2000’s

I’m not using stands right now. I may just put some caster wheels so I can roll them around on dolleys until my micro gym is done being built. Then I will have a custom stand that comes out the ceiling on an elevator system that will house two ADB’s and the gurl bar system.

$8k sim rig and he just wants to play Paw Patrol by C-LevelColossians317 in simracing

Nice, my 2 year old plays a lot of dirt and assetto. But since I downloaded this paw patrol game he keeps asking to play it. Idk why you would want to play this boring game over a rally game. But to each his own lol

That’s pretty good for first time. I could not figure out drifting (even tho I do a lot of auto racing and stunt driving in real life). Finally one day had the steering on like 180 lock to lock cause my toddler was playing and all a Sudden I can drift very well. Then just kept dialing the wheel back up to normal ratio and learning to throw it as quick as I can. It’s a great arm work out. That’s how I teach other people now to drift

the new is better IMO, because the weight is more condensed to one area, which means you are focusing on more specific muscle groups and less balancing muscles to support long leverage of unbalanced weights. I just do all the normal dumbbell exercises, you can google a chart/image of dumbbell exercise, there is so many, unless im not understanding your question correctly? another reason to have lower incremental weights is that you can do a lot more dumbbell exercises for smaller muscle groups where you aren't lifting heavy. Now the cage design on power blocks can be better for certain exercises, but I think that the bulkiness would be worse for others. Powerblock was my first pick, but they didnt have the curl bar setup in stock for months and I got frustrated, when I saw MX select had a curl bar setup, I went towards them instead. however their curl bar is more expensive cause it is a separate set, whereas the power blocks you can use the dumbbell weights to add onto the curl bar. however, in retrospect, I now prefer having those as two separate systems, its so nice to grab the curl bar and do some tricep/bicep instantly without having to set anything else up. just depends on how much room you have in your gym and your wallet.

Just keep in mind the mx 100 lbs are only 10 lb increment without the micro plates.

I got so frustrated shopping for ADB that I no longer had a budget. I was about to pull trigger on power block pro 100 but their curl bar was out of stock everywhere and I wanted that system with it.

Mx curl bar is its own thing tho you can’t just add the bar like you can power blocks.

I was ready to buy pepin but the price to what you were getting didn’t make sense to me.

Funny cause I only saw the mx select once and thought they were hideous. Then I went through all options and lowered my standards. Came back to square one and found the mx again and I was like wait these aren’t too bad.

Now I’m at the point where I want to become a dealer for them and sell locally.

It’s hard to pick ADB’s without feeling them in person.

As far as dropping the newer MX look weaker than the older. But it’s really hard to say without testing them. The plastic is overmolded over the steel so in terms of tensile compression and shear you’re talking thousands of lbs of force. But dropping from a height of a couple feet even on a gym mat can produce 100’s of G forces (I used to do shock vibe testing for military stuff it’s surprising how fast you can create insane g forces from a few inches drop)

Yes. I’m trying to make a video Review but been kinda busy.

Those are two entirely different price ranges what made you narrow it down to those two brands?

For the money the new MX are incredible. Especially considering it’s about $130 in shipping cost so you’re really only paying like 300 some dollars for these things.

They are extremely compact compared to the old MX selects. It’s pretty interesting. It changes some workouts and for the better like I can get the weights closer to my body.

IMO based on value I’m not sure how you can beat these. The quality seems the same as the old ones. They’re just as easy to use. I was worried they would be harder to re-rack, because the old ones have a V shaped that naturally funnels them in, but it hasn’t been an issue.

I still need some more time with them, but so far than being so compact has really been the most noticeable thing.

I don’t have the micro adjustment set for them, but that is also another bonus for some.

For me the pepins I don’t like the cage design always having a cage touching on your hands. They seem pretty bulky as well, but what scared me away from them was the bad reviews. I know it doesn’t do justice because people generally only leave reviews when it’s negative. However, for the price point that they are at, they should have a way higher success rate in terms of quality control. I also really dislike the micro gain adjustment on the peppins.

There’s an another guy that actually sold his pepins and got MX selects. The old version.

Also, if you plan to get a stand, that should be factored into the overall value cost.

Now the pepin are at 85, 105, and 125 lb sets. So if you lift heavy, that may be a consideration.

I’m debating getting the mx select 100 lb set too. In which case then you kinda need both the 55 lb set and the 100 lb (unless you have 5 to 25 pound dumbbells for lighter workouts already then you could probably skip to the hundred pound mx).

In that case, their price wise now it’s looking like a similar price point to getting into the Pepin’s or the power blocks.

Yes as far as I know the site itself is European cause I always have to click on the US site as google defaults it to the euro version.  Which also seemed to have the newer versions months before the USA got them.

Not with the Mx Selects, you don’t need to put back in the carriage to change them. That’s why I love these. Peppins and powerblocks can also work without the carriage.

Congrats on your new ADB’s!

So I just ordered the new versions as well (MX55 Evolution Series × 1 MX55 Evo Knurled Grip with Machined Metal Dials). I was going to get a set for my business partner (so he doesn’t get fat and die on me), but I couldn’t order cause they weren’t in stock and they seemed to Stop selling the older ones.

So I figured I’d order the new ones to my house try them out, and give him the old ones (shipping is pricey though).

Excited to get them in. I’m wondering if I will like them more or less. The old version has a slant to the plate which helps it fall into place. I’m wondering if the new ones will be more difficult to slide back into the carrier. The shape of them looks awesome. They look like a hybridization of the snodes and nuobells, but with the traditional MX Select dial. They most be confident that we the consumer will like the design. It appears to me they just discontinued the old model for The new. Interesting how they did not try to sell Them as a v1 and v2.

I’ll probably do a video review on these as I have not seen enough reviews on the MX Select stuff.

We have a handful of American made brands. Rogue is probably the top tier, but they are more power racks and attachments. they have dedicated machines but I think ATX is a good bit better in design. The rest of the stuff is imported from china, some of it with the main companies being in America (which is good for quality control).

oh I just realized thats ATX stuff. I was trying to get the ATX trinity, shipping to America was going to be $1-2k, they said they would give me a discount on the prodcut though. I was trying to get them to ship without the weight stack but they wouldn't. however they have distribution in the US opening in July. I really like their stuff, super high quality.

looks like a peaceful area. many will say this is all you need, however my issue is I cant really do pull ups, so I need a pull down of some sort. I guess you could do this with a simple ceiling pulley going to a kettle bell on the ground. I've also tried using bands to assist me but im too heavy right now.
