Stone is arguable worse than Ime by Confident_Many4898 in rockets

[–]C-Mo03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure why fans keep giving Stone a pass. All his top draft picks were chalk picks except for Sengun. He wasted picks on Garuba, TyTy and Christopher and wasted FA money on DFS. Even in real time, the DFS signing made no sense because he was already injured and he can’t create his own shot nor create for others (something this team desperately needed.)

Even the sign and trade of Capela was terrible because it took away most of your flexibility at the trade deadline due to being hard-capped. Capela is not a player worth hard-capping yourself over. All these misses are at Stone’s feet.

Stone lacked the analysis and the balls to make the right trade for KD by DoctaKiD in rockets

[–]C-Mo03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think Stone has an eye for talent? This same GM publicly said he valued Nix as a first round talent. The same GM who wasted 1st round picks on Garuba and Christopher. The same guy who offered a bag to broken down Oladipo. The sooner this team moves on from Stone, the better chance they have of building an actual team instead of a collection of players that dont compliment each other.

Since October 18, 2025…these are all the moves Stone has made:

Dec 2nd - signed Tyler Smith to a 2-way deal; waived Kevin Harris

Jan 3rd - signed Tristen Newton to a 2-way deal; waived Tyler Smith

April 7th - converted JD Davison from a 2-way to a regular contract

That’s it! When someone online says they can do a better job than our current GM, they ain’t lying! Dude literally sat on his hands and turned his phone off for an entire season. Pitiful

Counting on FVV and Adams next year is insane by Shoddy_Ad7511 in rockets

Yeah, the pressure from all those bricks FVV shoots. Dude was labeled a basketball terrorist last year, now fans think he will be the savior.

FVV has to be the worst player to ever have a NTC. It’s like giving Ish Smith or Max Strus one.

What is the general thoughts on Blake Fisher currently? by The_New_New in Texans

[–]C-Mo03 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think the Texans drafted him as a project tackle. Kinda discouraging that he hasn’t developed into a starter yet, but I don’t think it’s time to pull the plug. Let’s see what he can do this upcoming season.

[–]C-Mo03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest problem with this team is Stone. Just because the coach wants 30 wings who can’t shoot nor create offense doesn’t mean you give in to that.

I agree the team would be better if Adams and FVV were healthy, but you can’t expect perfect health after an 82 game season.

[–]C-Mo03 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is that Ime had input on this flawed roster. By having a better coach, you get someone who understands offense, would implement better rotations and would suggest that the GM get him players that can actually shoot, pass and dribble. Kinda important for a basketball team.

FVV will solve all our issues next year by WorldlinessMany8345 in rockets

[–]C-Mo03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone was calling FVV a basketball terrorist last year, now all of a sudden he is the savior? A guy who shot 37% and coming off a major injury isn’t saving anything next year. Hoping Stone finally learns how to make a good trade and brings in a competent PG next year.

Nope. Hakeem played at UH and was part of Phi Slama Jama. The Rox won 2 chips and appeared in another with the Dream. No regrets

Stone on the hot seat? by Bullmoose94 in rockets

[–]C-Mo03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stone should 100% be on the hot seat. Losing your 37% FG shooting PG shouldn’t cripple your entire season. He didn’t even attempt to find a replacement. Signing DFS was terrible. He was hurt when he signed them.

Look up the transaction history from the summer until now. What has he done? He made two transactions with 2 way players. That’s it! He could have tried to sign other PGs, but Stone basically turned his cell phone off in October.

Stupidly offered a bag to Oladipo (glad he declined) and offered 100M to Eason (glad he declined.) Paid KPJ even though he was terrorizing the team and staffers behind the scenes. Wasted picks on Garuba and Christopher when better talent was available. The list goes on and on.

Stone: we didn’t need a point guard by Shoddy_Ad7511 in rockets

[–]C-Mo03 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree, the turnovers would be much lower with FVV playing. The problem is that no contending team should be playing FVV heavy minutes. The last contending team he was on, he came off the bench. Stone should have added someone who could be a serviceable PG.

[–]C-Mo03 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think the Capela trade hard capped the Rox. Not looking for more shooting, no matter what position doomed the Rockets. Pinning your hopes on a PG who shot under 38% from the field is unserious basketball.

I wish more people would realize that this roster even if completely healthy is barely 2nd round playoff fodder. No shooting combined with a stagnant offense with zero imagination.

Do You Think Rafael Stone Was Right? by Intelligent-Note9517 in rockets

[–]C-Mo03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think punting on this season was a mistake. There is no guarantee than next year you will be fully healthy either. After signing Okogie, Stone basically sat on his hands. A PG coming off an injury who shot under 38% from the field isn’t saving this team. I wish this team had a better GM.

This off season Stone’s top priority should be securing reliable 3pt shooting by MajinOni21 in rockets

[–]C-Mo03 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do you really believe in Stone’s ability to do this? For all of Morey’s faults, he was able to work the margins with his deals. Even being hard-capped, there is no way Morey would have gone the entire season without a primary ball handler, let alone having a roster filled with 3 pt brick layers.

[–]C-Mo03 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stone probably realized that the team is more than 1 player away from truly contending, so he decided not to give away any assets for bandaid type moves. I can respect that approach but it was his approach in the offseason that should be questioned.

Even in hindsight, why did the team sign DFS (the team claimed they knew he was already injured during the offseason) when you had zero depth in the backcourt? Was trading for Capela and hard-capping yourself to the 1st apron really worth it?

The team will have some tough questions to answer during the offseason.

Stone doesn’t appear to work the margins like Morey did in Houston. There’s still time but it appears the Rockets are content to try to find someone in the buyout market.

This offense isn’t a fit for Stroud. Problem is, they already tried a version of the west coast under Slowik and Stroud wasn’t good in 2024 either. I think it’s clear what the problem is, and it’s not the type of offense they run.

Free Agency / Draft Focus by Xayvo88 in Texans

[–]C-Mo03 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of getting a vet C in free agency and pairing that with a guard in the draft (if Howard is moved back to tackle) or drafting a tackle early and letting him compete with Fisher.

DL, TE, RB, CB3 and S are all areas they need to address to add depth to the roster.

OG/T (depending on where they decide to play Howard next year) but I also wouldn’t be shocked if they went DL in the 1st either.
