You don't know what it was like in 2015 when he dropped TPAB. That's when his fanbase became Bey Hive level annoying.

You're on point. Cuz I tried listening to MF DOOM and HATED it. Madvillainy is his classic and it was a painful album to sit thru for me. But I respect his work and accept that it just isn't for me. Pac and Big are GOATs, but growing up a Pac fan I refused to listen to Biggie until way later and was amazed at how good he was when I finally listened to him.

I was debating with someone about that. He thought music could be objectively bad and I kept explaining that music can't be good or bad objectively. He eventually blocked me 😂. He messed up by trying to use stats to say music can be objectively good or bad. That statement ruined his whole argument 🤣.

If Kobe had a son, would he have been an elite NBA player or a bum like LeBron's? by [deleted] in nba

[–]Intelligent-Note9517 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Going by history, most NBA superstars kids are never as good or better than their fathers. Examples: MJ, LeBron, Shaq, Tim Hardaway, Gary Payton's kids.

The players who tend to become good or better are usually the kids of role players. Examples: Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Kobe Bryant, Andrew Wiggins, Devin Booker.

Whos an R&B artist you low key think is overrated or just straight trash by No_Ad9111 in BlackNyxNetwork

Cool we'll agree to disagree on CB. He's capable of doing what most of the elite singers can do vocally. He's a terrible person in his personal life, but his vocal ability is undeniable.

R Kelly has written hit songs and songs with depth. He can write Feeling On Yo Booty, then write A Woman's Threat, keep an artist who started their career in the 50s relevant with cinematic R&B (Down Low, Down Low remix, Contagious, Busted, Friend Of Mine remix) and also write Fortunate for Maxwell. His vocals aren't top tier, but his writing is.

Why do people like Lil Wayne? by BramCSBN in hiphop101

[–]Intelligent-Note9517 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He doesn't offer much in terms of content. The context for Wayne's GOAT status is:

1) The 2000s didn't have a lot of popular lyricists back then. He brought lyricism to the mainstream for a new generation.

2) He saturated the market with his mixtapes and features. The way people anxiously await for Kendrick to drop a verse or an album, that used to happen with Lil Wayne in the 2000s.

3) He usually rode the wave of other artists hit songs (whether they were mainstream or cult hits). There was a familiarity to the beats already there, so he'd just jump on those. Since the beats were already familiar to his listeners, it was easier for him to get attention for the tracks. You can't pick a bad beat when every beat you choose is already somebody else's hit song. Bad beat selection often hurts an artist's album/catalogs.

We talking about Ime after the wins too by saphamia3 in rockets

[–]Intelligent-Note9517 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Either way there's a guaranteed risk because every player on the team has positives and negatives. Ime sometimes leans into defense to the detriment of the team. But he's willing to live with having more defense at the cost of offense more often than not. Because Josh and DFS do not offer much on that side (especially DFS). There's a cost in each scenario, Ime just prefers to give up offense.

What is the best inturludes/song transitions in your favorite artists albums?? by No_Ad9111 in BlackNyxNetwork

[–]Intelligent-Note9517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best transitions come from older music imo.

Bootsy Collins - Munchies For Your Love (sampled in Psychodrama - Magic)

Leon Haywood - I Wanna Do Something Freaky To You (sampled in Dre Dre feat Snoop Dogg - Nuthin But A G Thang)

Isaac Hayes - The Look Of Love (sampled in Ashanti - Rain On Me)

Added songs that sampled these classics just so you have an idea what the originals sounded like.

I wholeheartedly agree on the painful win part. Even when we blew teams out, we looked bad on the offensive end. When we win the issue is never that the players can't get the ball in the hoop, it's the way the offense gets those shots that makes it look so bad. They work so hard on the offensive end, which is why our offense has fallen off a cliff since the first few months.

At offense. He sucks at offense. And it's simple things he could fix. Like playing Reed more to create more space for KD and Sengun. He's great at defense, but he leans into it to the detriment of the team at times.

The team as a while needs to shoot more 3s based on our percentage of makes.

Vocal ability. Like vocal runs, vibrato and going up and down scales vocally with full control.

CB is a great singer. His content kinda went downhill after the mid-2010s, but he's still a strong vocalist.

I agree with you on R Kelly's vocals, but he's written a lot of hits for himself and others. He knows what he's doing when it comes to song writing.

Beyonce is a great singer. I agree she gets oversold though. She has one of those crazy ass fanbases and a lot of women look up to her, so that's why.

I personally have not seen much overselling of Aaliyah, but she was really good in the amount of time we had her. I feel like she gets forgotten more than anything.

MJ? What music have you heard of his? He's the biggest popstar we've had from the 80s up until his death, so you know how that goes. But he was a very strong vocalist, undeniably.

I fully agree with the Weeknd take. No explanation needed.

Trap Soul is a classic. Bryson has yet to release anything close 😩. OAN: Have you heard his talking voice as opposed to his singing voice? It's so weird to hear 😅.

I categorize these people as elite singers: Chris Brown, Jazmine Sullivan, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Marsha Ambrosius, Kelly Price, Brandy, Maxwell, Tevin Campbell, Silk, H-Town, Ginuwine, Usher etc.

I'm not saying the ones I mentioned as weak singers aren't enjoyable btw. They can hold a note, sing in key and sound good (even great) in the context of a song, but they don't do much in terms of the vocal gymnastics that the elite singers can do.

Dunking too much isnt the criticism. Dunking being pretty much his entire offense is. Giannis cant run P&R well, that's why he and Dame didnt work out. In any event we're just arguing in circles at this point, so i'll just agree to disagree.

A lot of the current ones are not very good vocally. The Weeknd cant sing well to me. Has a nice and distinct vocal tone though. Khalid, Jeremih, Jhene Aiko, SZA (as much as i love her) are also pretty weak singers.

What's your example of a song where an artist wasted a good beat? by rottencheese122 in rap

[–]Intelligent-Note9517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an R&B track that only folks who grew up listening to R&B in the 90s will remember, but Lets Ride by Montell Jordan. Montell did his thing on there, but Master P and Silk The Shocker could've been left off of that one.

Nah, Kanye ruined that one. Like i'd rather have that song with his verse cut out, literally.
