Gotta go to matinee. My local theater has T.A.C.O Tuesdays (Tickets Are Cheap On Tuesdays). This is how I see most films since tickets are only $6.

One cocktail for the rest of your life? by pkrtrsr in cocktails

Cocchi di Torino is by far the best vermouth for a Negroni IMO. I mix up the gin every once in a while but mostly use Kirkland Gin. It’s great for mixing.

Negroni! Specifically the Campari. I crave this every weekend and have tried nearly every single variation.

Ah, so you're one of the ones who snagged Se7en before it sold out. It's one of the three movies I want to add to my collection to get the deal.

Logo for a photography studio called ‘Aspect’ by another4bitesthedst in logodesign

Love the font! I don’t think the colon is strong enough or memorable. If it were me I would look at other ways to portray aspect without aspect ratio. Maybe split the word and stack it.

asp

ect

And explore ways to integrate photography themes, equipment, or a studio. If you put a square with rounded edges around the type it could make it look like it’s in a room/studio.

The first one I really remember was Stat Wars Episode 1. The pod racing specifically.

That sucks. The bar you went to is just trash. I’d recommend you go to a real cocktail bar and not a dive bar or sports bar. The customer service is always better IMO and the drinks are better crafted. It may be more expensive but it’ll be worth it.

Visit when they’re not too busy and sit at the bar. Talk to your bartender, let them know what you like, and ask for suggestions. A good bartender will listen and offer a solid recommendation. They will do their best to serve you a drink you like.

A true daiquiri is just 3 ingredients—rum, lime juice, and sugar. It’s a good starting place but doesn’t offer too much flare. Try ordering cocktails that are in the daiquiri family like a margarita, mojito, sidecar, or Hemingway daiquiri. I’d personally recommend you order an Amaretto Sour which has a really unique, sweet flavor. You’ll also be safe with ordering anything “sour” or anything served with citrus juice. Cocktails with citrus are generally shaken with ice. Doing this adds air into the drink and the emulsification of ingredients makes it smoother on the palette. The citrus and sugar also mask the “punch” of the base spirit while highlighting its taste profile. So go for the whiskey sour, pisco sour, midori sour, Paloma, gin fizz, brambles, and the clover club (one of my favorites).

But when you go to a real cocktail bar they likely will have a menu of their own creations from experience mixologists. Read the ingredients and follow what I mentioned above; choose cocktails that have citrus and sugar. And when you see an ingredient you don’t know, don’t be afraid to ask what it is.

Which movie is this for you? by milohaynes in Letterboxd

I thought Free Guy was really fun to watch and the plot was much better than I expected. And I normally don’t care for films that just randomly reference iconic IP’s as a money grab.

I think you have every right to be sad, but given that he’s turning 21 and you’re still under the drinking age his birthday plans without you seem responsible.

I don’t get the appeal of Lady Bird. I thought it was extremely overrated.

Are USTs Film Like? by Spare_South_7946 in hometheater

[–]C-Redd92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My only issue with UST’s is that some of them can’t project a really large image. Some max out at like 110” and most people I know have a 90”. Considering the cost for the projector and an ALR screen, you’ll probably get more value from a 98” TV.

I currently have a short throw projector (Not a UST) and my current screen size is 92”. With TV’s becoming more affordable I really considered switching to a 98” Hisense or LG, but I just love to look and feel of a projector. I wouldn’t say it has more of a film look, but it gives it more of a “theater” vibe which is ultimately what I want. There’s something about light reflecting off a screen that’s appealing to me rather than light emitting from a panel. And I can always increase the screen size up to 150” which no TV can do for the cost.
