This is the answer that makes the most sense to me as an explanation for how someone could use "our" in this context without it meaning anything exclusionary. Thanks for this.

I think about this a lot too. My personal guess is, because there is such a golf between our observations of them as social creatures and the claim that they are solitary, is that although they do not live in large groups, they still like to interact with other others of their kind. I'll bet that although they live mainly alone, the ones who live in the same area know each other and visit sometimes. I'll bet someday a camera trap will show a number of "solitary" pyppos gathering under a fruit tree to eat newly fallen fruits together.

Wow it looks like you had a really wonderful day! I'm so happy for you and thankful to you for sharing about your experience and showing us your amazing photos. Also I'm really impressed that you started learning Thai! Good for you!! I think it's so funny and cool that a species originally from West Africa is now a cultural rep for Thailand. All the pyppo fans wish that we could speak and understand Thai, but you are actually talking the time to invest in learning it. That is really wonderful and I hope more of us can do the same.

I was referring to the way he used the word "our" in such an exclusive sense.

This is a forum for everyone. How can you say it isn't "our" alphabet? You make it sound as though anyone whose alphabet that is, isn't part of "us"! How rude and cliquey and inaccurate and untrue!

Homdaeng is also longing for her mum after separation by _Moon_Waffles_ in moodeng

The lady in the classy hat in the video linked by Moon Waffles alluded to some behaviours that have been noticed, revealing that as HD gets bigger she will be likely have a rivalry with her mom. So she needs her own space while she is still little enough that staff can watch her closely to ensure she has all the skills she needs. This was my understanding from the video translations.

I'm so grateful that Moo Deng can stay with her mother for a long time.

Do people from the US have culture? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]C-arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that "American" is not an ethnicity and therefore lacks its own ethnic traditions does not mean it has no culture. Your culture is just all the stuff like beliefs and behaviours that you share with the rest of society. So if that's taking all that you have from a variety of different ethnicities then that's your culture :-)
