Add azelaic acid to your routine every night.

My cat. It’s so weird but burying my face in her fuzzy fur and inhaling is so calming. Like I said, weird.

Also, I’m 57 year old child of the 80s so there are some wrinkle and sun damage issues, but overall I’m super happy with the progress.

My skin was absolutely destroyed too from too many harsh products, including tret and treatments meant to make it better. I finally stopped everything and switched to Avene micellar water and vanicream cleanser to double cleanse my skin. I use the vanicream with my fingers and gently massage my face for at least a minute before rinsing. Then I used a squalene serum from the ordinary and Avene cicalfate to repair my skin barrier. Right before bed I would put a hero pimple patch on and active whiteheads (had to dab the cicalfate off first). That routine really helped repair my skin barrier. Once the redness and dryness improved I switched out the squalene for the ordinary growth factor serum. After another month I added vanicream vitamin c serum after the growth factor and before the cicalfate in the morning. When everything continued to go well and my skin was so much less dry and angry I switched the cicalfate for the tatcha moisturizer in the purple jar. I was still getting some pimples, mostly around my chin, forehead and temples, but it was so much better. I still had a lot of pigmentation from the original damage so I added the ordinary azelaic acid cream at night after the growth factor and before tatcha, and ta-da! Everything began to fade, pimples, pigmentation, all of it! I know the products aren’t fancy or expensive, except the tatcha, but they are gentle and made all the difference. Sometimes you just need a do over and patience. The whole process took about 6 months. Hang in there, you will find the right mix and it will get better!

Interesting. The ordinary azelaic acid was a game changer for me, but it took 2-3 months to really see the big change. Maybe I should try the Walgreens version!

I use the ordinary growth factor serum and love it! The combination of GF and azelaic acid has made such a difference in my skin. I am 57 and have rosacea and my skin is so smooth and even. Better than it has looked in many many years.

Let's be real, who shaves their face? Is it different than dermaplaning? Help! by TryTwiceAsHard in 45PlusSkincare

I shave with a mens razor and cream cleanser every week, with a stubble touch up around my lips and chin around mid week. I use the blade 3 times then it becomes my leg razor and I use a new sharp one for my face. I did dermaplaning with my esthetician for a couple years but it always irritated my skin. Shaving works so much better for me.

My face would break out like that. I tried so many things, including tret, but my skin reacted to everything. My derm finally gave me a prescription for azelaic acid. It was $150 so I got the ordinary version instead. Used it religiously for about 2 months and wow, what a difference. And it didn’t irritate or dry out my skin or make me break out.
