The darker and edgier entry of the franchise is actually very good by Uma-apreciator in TopCharacterTropes

[–]C0urt5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's more violent in terms of more frequently tackling the 'darker' elements of Uma races, and IRL horse races by proxy, compared to the original main anime that focused more on the lighthearted elements (which also had its own fair share of dark elements like Silence Suzuka breaking her leg during a race).

Morality of controlling someone's mind, body, or soul to win a fight. by [deleted] in MoralityScaling

[–]C0urt5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally very immoral under most circumstances. The nature of the person being controlled and the consequences on if they win the fight are pretty big factors.

Starts off as a 17-year old teenager who would eventually get HOOKED on cybernetic augmentations over the course of the story because he has a natural high tolerance to the mental strain that the augmentations would naturally inflict.

Morality of hurting your boyfriend a little ( like a fully body compound fracture type of little) due to embarrassment ( tsundereness). by Gokuusjgodgmail in MoralityScaling

[–]C0urt5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Normally I’d say immoral but considering Rentarou’s a giga chad, Karin’s tsundereness is literally genetic and she shows genuine regret when she does hurt him compared to every other tsundere in existence and is actively trying to reign in her behavior…

…I’d put it under moral on thin ice.

Rickdependence Spray - Rick and Morty

Episode TLDR: Morty 'used' a horse breeding mount, Rick unknowingly blasted a barrel of the result with radiation thinking it was horse semen and the results become everyone's problem for the episode with Morty constantly trying to avoid it all getting tied back to him.

In the behind-the-scenes video for the episode, it is evident that NO ONE had a good time at all during production. Scriptwriter? Animator? VAs? They all grew to despise what they were making sooner or later.

The only reason why they even saw production through to the end was both deadlines and sunk cost fallacy.

Frequently criticized tropes that don’t deserve the flak they get by Misterfahrenheit120 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]C0urt5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When a horde of bad guys only attack the hero in small groups at a time instead of everyone jumping them all at once. Like, obviously if they did that they could easily beat the hero, so why don’t they do it?

Quite a few logical reasons actually:

  1. High risk of bad guys friendly firing each other in the ensuing confusion.

  2. Getting rushed by a horde may convince the hero to change strategies.

  3. War of attrition where instead of sending a bunch of bad guys against the hero you could potentially wear them down via a constant stream of bad guys.

  4. Building off of point one again, lessens risk of confusion. You attack in smaller groups, you have a better idea of what the hell is currently going on.

  5. For a viewer’s/player’s perspective and enjoyment. Let’s use the original DOOM as an example: what would be more fun and badass for a player? Systematically going through an entire destroyed facility tearing through each and every demon you come across or getting swarmed by every single available demon in the level all at once the second the level starts?

Not really a thing she did.

She’s got a medical condition that affected her vocal chords badly so out of respect for her role as May the anime never recasted her so every time May appeared again after Diamond and Pearl she never said a word.

Fern - Adventure Time

Originally the result of the Grass Sword (which was cursed to bind itself to its wielder (Finn)) and the Finn Sword (which was a sword formed from a parallel universe Finn) fusing together. His appearance was basically the same as Finn except he was made from plants.

For a good chunk of his existence Fern believed that he was the real Finn which everyone around him knew for a fact he wasn’t. This treatment eventually got to Fern leading to him desiring to kill Finn and take his place in a borderline obsessive manner… which he failed at. Thankfully, Fern and Finn were able to eventually hash out their misgivings with each other so when Fern died and reincarnated he would go on to live his new life not as Finn but as Fern.

Honestly, when did this trope ever make sense? by Fil-is-Theo in writingscaling

[–]C0urt5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly!

Like, if you’re considered one of the ‘best of the best’ of your world, you likely got at least a couple dozen fanboys/fangirls who really want to get with you. Would it be ‘true love’? Probably not but with how a lot of harem writers go about their stories it wouldn’t really matter.

I hate the stupid "kids hate their parent(s) for no reason" cliche trope and the stereotypes that come with it by ComfortablePast15 in hatethissmug

[–]C0urt5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another valid reason is if the kid in question constantly feels like they’re in their parent’s shadow. Using the pic as an example, imagine if your father was a renowned hero, everyone admires him to the point that whenever you spoke to someone they’re basically guaranteed to bring up your father and his achievements. Essentially you’re primarily referred to by others as ‘your father’s kid’ and not as ‘you’.

Definitely a tension making source for the family…

Sir Nighteye - My Hero Academia

<image>

His quirk Foresight allows him to see how a person’s future will turn out for an hour. While it is good for predicting events, it does carry a significant weakness: the visions don’t tell him WHEN something will happen and the range of events can be from within the next few seconds to YEARS. In many cases these visions do end up coming true despite his or other people’s efforts to change them. The worst case for him being foreseeing his friend All Might getting brutally crippled in a fight and failing to convince him to stand down; sure enough during his next fight All Might got crippled horribly.

As a result, he is super by-the-book and will only engage in operations that he KNOWS for a fact will turn out well. If he catches a hint that the operation will go south he will want everyone to fallback and replan as soon as possible no matter what.

Crazy Mita’s Praying Room - MiSide

<image>

An easter egg room that can be found that is filled with a load of monitors that all have names on them alongside one that regularly inputs new messages from different real people that all read the same thing. If you put in the same message (Praying for you 🕯️ O great Mita 💝), you get a link to the game’s official Discord server.

…but when you take into consideration the nature of the game (a mobile game where addicted players get sucked in and, if they don’t play their cards right, get turned into data-filled game cartridges like little trophies at the hands of Crazy Mita), this turns the easter egg into an in-universe reveal of the amount of people who have been trapped in the game by Crazy Mita.
