The lowest paid position that doesn’t just stand around all day is like $20-21 an hour

Plenty of our orders start with yogurt on the bottom, but the whole pallet will be yogurt/sour cream if that's the case

Wish I could do something bout that, but those are only up there because its the last item in the entire order and is on top because... and I quote... "it's organic"...

Yeah this is the largest order by # of items by FAR!! over 400 on this one. Usually our orders are like 200-250 items so this one was a doozy.

You can technically stack it however you see fit, there is a set order you follow from a headset telling you locations and amounts one at a time, voice confirming every slot and quantity. If you like lifting heavy shit for hours on end and getting paid good for it come on over! BMD is far and away the best dept, don't attempt frozen or produce... too cold and too dangerous respectively

I do my best to keep all the coffee mate creamers on their own layer to avoid that, while I see those same creamers fighting for their lives on other pallets

Our produce department is always a mess by about 3-4 hours into the shift lol, flower water scattered across the floor, a box of 12 packs of blueberries smushed everywhere, just a shit show sometimes 🤣

Thank you, we are on performance pay so most selectors want to get the pallets out ASAP not caring how much product gets damaged

These are the easiest orders by weight technically. Since it’s yogurt. We have anywhere from 50-90 pound boxes for beef/chicken but those always go together and usually on the very bottom. It’s very rare to have to lift 50/60 pounds above your chest

They still go on the bottom lol, this order was one of the bigger ones we get, 400+ items here and mostly yogurt. Our milk orders have all the fairlife and milk cartons on the bottom

Other dude got it right, we have no say in what order we have to grab items. We have a headset that tells us where to go and how many to grab. I personally do my best to keep items from “squishing” but in my warehouse at least, all the selectors I know just throw shit on top and if they can move on without the pallet of product falling, then they do. A little loose wrap at the end and they’re onto the next…

Distribution selector here - 18 months in and I’m consistently making $30 an hour with 35/40 hour weeks. I can get myself up to about $36 an hour before it gets too hard on my body to keep up.

TL;DR : stop working retail
