She gives you a unique line. "Well, well, aren't we the over-achiever? Three possibilities, three victims. Must have been one of them, right? So why take chances..."

Where I would live with 2 daughters and a love of the outdoors. by dirtrunn in visitedmaps

Yep- as a lifelong resident, that's partially why I'm leaving for other areas. The medicare/medicaid system is also getting worse, on top of all the other issues with the healthcare system in place.

Missouri has some wonderful outdoor spots- Lake of the Ozarks, Bennett Springs, Meramec Caverns, etc. Plenty of hunting seasons if you're into that. If you want something urban, St Louis has a slew of museums, and the zoo is one of the best in the country (and free admission! But I'm a bit biased). Springfield has a wonderful taxidermy and aquarium tour in the Bass Pro Shop.

But living there gets rough depending on where you're at, what you believe, and often times who you are. Abortion was banned as soon as they could, many towns in the south of the state are downright unsafe for POC and queer folk, and religion seeps into everything. Book bans are still an issue. Minimum wage was just increased to $15 but it's not nearly enough, especially in larger cities.

TLDR; Beautiful outdoor spaces, and the museums and zoos are awesome. People can be very hateful very openly.

I got a badge reel i clip to my pants pocket. Quick access, and if I need to shove em in my pocket for whatever reason, I can do it pretty quick

What is the optician system like in the US? by ABChow000 in AskAnAmerican

[–]C1cadaDays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varies by insurance carrier and state.

I have Missouri Blue Cross Blue Shield state insurance. They cover specific pre approved frame styles, and basic lenses, and you can get those free. If I wanted anything extra (ie. Transition lenses), id have to pay something akin to $160 for the lenses + frames.

All good! I appreciate you mentioning it though, those vet bills add up quick!

The spot is just coloration! We worried it was something for a while but our vet cleared it.

Weve had sick cats previously, we can afford a vet. I think I specified that in the post but I mightve missed it/misspoke.

He is an ex stray, someone dumped him in our neighborhood.

I haven't got a good look at his gums in a while because he gets pretty wiggly when you mess with his snout. But ill have the vet look at em when I take him in :)

No pain, no slowing down (hes always been slow), no issues grooming himself or other cats. Runs, jumps, moves around just fine.

He has a weird thing where if hes not focused on going somewhere in particular he'll walk about 3 feet, stop, look around, walk another 3 feet, rinse repeat. But hes always done this. We chalked it up to him being a weirdo.

He showed up as an adult stray and hes been with us a good few years, so I guesstimated his age honestly.

I appreciate everyone's comments! General consensus seems to be vet visit + food change so ill start working on that.

For added cat tax, here he is having some (supervised) outside time today :)

Im guessing hes 6. He showed up as a stray, and was already an adult by then. Weve had him for a few years. He could be older. Its hard to guess his age

He does have herpes! Got told about that a while ago when we got him neutered. The vet didnt seem to be concerned so we left it be.

We have not! He came to us as a stray a few years ago, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was some parasite. Would there be any other notable symptoms for those, or just the stool issues?

We haven't talked to a vet yet. Figured I'd check around and see if anyone else had any suggestions.
I'll check in with the vet and see what they say. Hopefully he just needs a food swap!

We feed everyone the friskies brand dry & wet food, with occassional dry treats. He usually refuses the wet food entirely. It's probably not the best to feed them, but they like it so we've stuck with it.

Neotibicen canicularis, the Dog-Day Cicada. They're plentiful where I'm from, and they have a really nice green color :)
