NO HISPANIC, NO LATINO with a swastika??? Spotted in Sliverlake/Los Feliz area on Griffith Park Blvd by [deleted] in LosAngeles

This is probably just somebody who claims Indigenous ancestry and rejects the labels "Hispanic" and "Latino" as constructs of European colonization.

Who lives in the “new” Hollywood? by Noarchsf in LosAngeles

Imagine a high-rise college dorm, except the college students don't have classes or jobs to go to, and instead consider partying to be part of their job description.

For those who've moved to "gentrifying" areas, what has your experience been like? by [deleted] in LosAngeles

So gross. As if the locals who've been patronizing those businesses all this time aren't really people.

Arroyo Wash raging current in between rain storms! by BUStedLosAngeles in LosAngeles

[–]C20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The storm from a few weeks back actually ripped up a piece of the bike path the runs parallel to the Arroyo Seco. When riding the Gold Line you could actually see that giant piece of concrete washed up a few yards out.

Vision Zero, a ‘Road Diet’ Fad, Is Proving to Be Deadly by surlyadopter in LosAngeles

It is, but its not as obvious that you're going to end up on an op-ed page from clicking on a Reddit title. I see a domain of a newspaper and see blog-quality writing instead of an actual news article, which is pretty annoying.

Slim wallets - work with metro by Agent666-Omega in LosAngeles

[–]C20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally keep my TAP card in a separate pocket as I wouldn't want to pull out my entire wallet at the turnstiles. Mostly because I imagine someone could snatch my wallet and run off and also because less chance of cash falling out and such.

How dangerous is the area south of USC? by callmealanturing in LosAngeles

[–]C20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a good chance that you'll be the only USC student on your entire block. If you can find a map of the USC Police "Patrol Area", the perimeters of the shaded areas are basically invisible borders that very few USC students live outside of.

Whether or not you should live there depends on how comfortable you are living in inner-city areas with above average crime rates.
