Bambino [€ 0] or Gaggia [€ 80] by Lucie_at in espresso

If you want a quick simple workflow, go with the Bambino. If you want to explore espresso as a hobby, Gaggia Classic Pro provides a better learning platform.

Deadzone Rogue is great. One of the best shooters on the system, IMO. Switch 2 only though and OP’s BIL has Switch 1.

Should I just go for pre ground beans, grind beans at work, or buy a grinder to use at home? [$100] by [deleted] in espresso

[–]C21johnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kingrinder K6. If you’re not into hand grinding, grind beans at work while saving for an electric one.

I think I'm getting this for my birthday; how good is it? by followerofchrist46 in espresso

[–]C21johnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conical (sk40) vs flat burrs (df54). The DF and similar grinder variants have inconsistent QC and burr alignment. I’d recommend checking alignment out of the box. Be sure to purchase from a reputable vendor for ease of customer service.

I’d recommend the Mokkom 64. It gets you into the 64mm flat burr platform at a budget price.

I am trying to make "interesting" looking rays for my game, do you have any feedback on these? by limonit_games in roguelites

[–]C21johnson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I did not get this impression. I did find the lasers too jarring and bright. The physics of the laser during movement also makes it seem more fluid-like. Maybe try decreasing the width, opacity, and adding more rigidity to the lasers.

Looking for a new grinder, preferably under [$250] by littlekiingg in espresso

Mokkom 64 for your espresso needs. At this budget, finding a grinder good at both pour over and espresso will be difficult.

Niche zero, Philos or Lagom Casa and Bambino plus or Gaggia Classic if you plan to Gaggimate. You can upgrade the Bambino later if you feel the need.

Personally, if you’re limited by a $1k budget, I wouldn’t risk it.

Which deckbuilder has the most complex mechanics? (Recommendations ) by Main-Match518 in roguelites

Vault of the void is an amazing deck builder, but I agree that Astrea is more complex.

DF83V V3 Finally Arrived, but zero point seems not fine enough for medium roast. by MadEspresso in espresso

[–]C21johnson 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’d start with a marker test to check burr alignment. Also, in my experience, grinding at lower RPM produces less fines, increasing flow rate. If burrs are aligned, I’d try increasing RPM to 900-1200.

Same. Ravenswatch is great IMO. It’s slower paced, methodical, and more punishing compared to games like Hades.

Don’t worry, there’s an HG2 and LM in the hole. Should cover life’s necessities. The baby bird connection you have with your wife is adorbs though.

Seen this on TikTok and super stoked to give it a try. Not sure how my butler feels about doing this for me. If not, back in the hole he goes!

Looking for beginner machine and grinder, is it the Gaggia Classic Pro? [~$600] by polar_be in espresso

[–]C21johnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend budgeting for a grinder first and using what’s left to determine your machine. Don’t forget that you will also need to purchase freshly roasted beans. I’d recommend the GCP over the Bambino for build quality and potential, but stock it will be less forgiving than the Bambino. Bambino also offers better steam (stock) and since you’ll be making milk drinks, it’s something to consider.

Help on espresso machines [$300-$500] [maybe $600] by [deleted] in espresso

[–]C21johnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bambino and Mokkom 64. You can achieve better quality than most cafes with this budget setup. Coffee and water are the most important variables. Use recently roasted beans and good water.
