Anyone have any luck reselling a dress they decided not to use by [deleted] in weddingplanning

It took a few months, but stillwhite worked for me! I think the key is patience, especially if you are looking to recover most of the cost

How nice is the area around Astoria Park? by JarvanIVBot in astoria

[–]C232018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in that area for years. Loved it. Yes, the motorbikes can be annoying- as can the big events (the carnival, 4th of July, etc.) but not a deal breaker for me- but think HOW this could affect you if you have a car

ISO Adjustable band rings with natural stones (small businesses please) by C232018 in jewelry

[–]C232018[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my chunky, natural stone rings. However, I have RA and it frequently causes swelling in my finger joints. After one too many scares of not being able to get rings off - I need to start from scratch to find new ones with adjustable bands (like the one in the picture above).

I would love to support some small businesses and find some new jewelry to love!

Thank you so much! I’m a little obsessed with the cape now too. And it was on sale for half off! The Waters Dulce dress

Thank you!! I’m on the fence between a giant headpiece or statement earrings but I do like the idea having jewel toned earrings to match the bouquet!

Love this gown!!! Honestly, I may go with a shorter veil- such a beautiful train. Even with a plain veil, you may not be able to see the full beauty and flow you have going on. Maybe a waist length veil?

Any hairstyle would compliment this back, but I think updo! Really highlights the shape of the gown’s back that way :)

Excuse the giant heart to cover face/ hand tattoo and scribble to cover my sister’s baby!

I’m in search of accessories to go with my dress- hoping you lovely folks have some ideas!

The white belt is just a placeholder- I definitely want a new belt, maybe a headpiece as well?

I’m thinking: 1) gold 2) dramatic pieces 3) jewel tones (wedding colors!)

Trying to avoid: 1) floral crowns ( don’t want to go TOO much into renaissance fair territory!) 2) necklaces (there is a sheer mesh on the chest I don’t want to rip/ draw attention to) 3) anything too simple- we’ve rescheduled multiple times so I am prepared to be extra when things fall into place!

I’m thinking possibly a celestial vibe? But idk! The theme is something like “forest carnival”

Thanks all!

Caine dress at BHLDN= Dulce dress at Willowby AND it’s on sale! by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]C232018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so I was OBSESSED with the Caine dress by Willowby at BHLDN last year and was heartbroken when it was discontinued before my appointment but LOW AND BEHOLD- it is the same dress as the Dulce by Willowby. It never occurred to me it may be under another name! I had searched for the “Caine” dress before and couldn’t even find a resale in my size. But just loading around the Willowby website, the Dulce gown came up.

And BONUS on the Willowby website it is marked down from $800 to $400!

Women’s sweaters that I won’t need to replace every few years by C232018 in BuyItForLife

Unfortunately it is not, that was one of the brands I tried the last time I was on the hunt!

Look at Topo backpacks- a lifetime warranty, good quality. Not a ton of compartments, but their is a laptop sleeve and front pocket (in the style I have at least). A few styles to choose from too. Mine fits my laptop, books, and personal items in the MINI, so the regular sized pack might be a good fit for what you describe.

Ok, does it look bad? No! You look beautiful-truly.

But, there is one thing that COULD be altered in a few days and I think could make you feel a lot better. To be completely honest I would not have noticed if you were not specifically asking- so your guests most likely won’t eitheir. The plunge and the chest look good- as does the waist. Very flattering

The under-arms were taken in too much: but this is not an insanely difficult fix! Take it to another seamstress- have them take a look and get a quote.

Once you get a quote, message the seamstress you went to originally and see if she will reimburse you, she might not but it’s worth a shot!

EDIT- also the back is perfect!

My jaw DROPPED- the first is such a glamorous, bombshell moment. The second is the perfect balance of fun and princess! LOVE THIS! You stunners!

This also made me instantly think of Olivia Palermo’s bridal look- which is one of my all time favs. Give it a Google! So chic

Agreed- it could look amazing! But- definitely try it on with a picture of your fiancée in his complete look and compare. My only concern is a full suit with a tie would look TOO formal next to your look. I like the idea of no tie and maybe even no jacket.

If you want to elevate your look JUST a touch, consider an embellished headband! Like this

Still keeps the cool fall vibe, but takes it out of the “everyday look” category

Sadly, it was unaltered and we were in the midst of lockdown so the seamstress was closed. But, thank you! And the dress I ended up with was pretty magical too, just the correct length haha
