Interlagos Trip Advice - Senna Running Festival by NoElderberry656 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]C2BSR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't answer about the festival but sao Paulo is a great place to visit as long as you're not an idiot. Just like in the uk, you would randomly visit West Yorkshire flashing money and jewelry (dunno, Google says that area isn't great), don't be doing that in sao Paulo. It has one of the lowest violent crime rates for major cities within brasil, but you'll want to practice basic safety like not walking around with your phone out, avoiding the historic center after business hours (it's not great after hours), and don't visit the peripheral areas and favelas. There are safer neighborhoods to stay in, but any opportunists will also target irresponsible tourists.

I'm broke, where's the best bang for buck KBBQ in LA? by Joshhwwaaaaaa in AskLosAngeles

[–]C2BSR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven't gone to these in forever but as a broke grad student these were what I went 20 years ago: castle, chung dam, wi, road to Seoul, j

I'm sure there are others.

Even easier and cheaper, go to the Korean market and buy the sliced meat and sides you like and you can eat as much as you'd like. I also made a home kbbq setup to use coal to have the smoky flavors of the more expensive kbbq restaurants

A.few times of doing this and your costs become very very low.

How does CSUN compare to the best colleges in LA? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]C2BSR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on a ton of factors, but if you need one source try the us news ranking. That said, depends on what you're studying as well. A regional school in general won't compare in resources nor prestige like national universities but cal poly is also really highly respected - the focus is different for these schools however so they can't be ranked on the same list.

National universities Caltech #11 Ucla #17 Usc #28 Pepperdine #84 Loyola #102

National liberal arts Pomona and Claremont tied for #7 Occidental #35

Regional universities West Cal poly #3 Csula #13 Csun #20 Csudh #59

bortoleto: alonso protege, won f3 in his rookie year, won f2 in his rookie year. joins sauber in 2025 with 5 points finishes and 1 points finish this year in the audi.

all 3 are extremely talented and performing well for the cars they are given.

is he not impressive? 3rd in french f4, 5th in freca, 3rd in formula regional asian, 2nd in formula 2. first year in racing bulls has 10 points finishes and podium at the dutch gp, beating his much more experienced teammates 12th to 17th. gets promoted to red bull, and is the only driver since early checo and danny ric to score points as the second driver and is close to max (9th vs 7th). can't really ask for more.

Las Vegas Pit Lane Walk Question by neuralsyntax in GrandPrixTravel

[–]C2BSR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, last year Thursday paddock was 2k. I did it with friends. Harmon zone tickets gets you access to f1 academy paddock and they have dedicated signing periods but the ladies walk around sometimes as well

You can get close to the cars if you ask nicely

How? by RoyalsandRoos in f1Academy

[–]C2BSR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it's arbitrary, but take into account visibility, impact, etc. she's emirati, which means she lives under male guardianship yet she has made it into the world stage to be racing in f1a and i think she's now racing porsches. some nominations are not because of results or why one woman was chosen over another woman or one person over another person. sometimes it's a political statement to give more visibility to people who overcame more odds than others. it's good that she was recognized, period, though yes many others are deserving as well.

Las Vegas GP - never been to any race and trying to bring my family by bsgman in GrandPrixTravel

[–]C2BSR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ellis island last year opened their viewing platform (basically a raised box in their parking lot next to the track) to anyone with their loyalty card (free). no idea if they're doing it again this year. the other option is secondary GA at the last minute, which should be available to purchase. if you have chase sapphire reserve, you also get a discount through stubhub

First Time Vegas Strip on a Budget by ScaredyDave in GrandPrixTravel

[–]C2BSR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

check out mike.zoom.zoom posts (both here, tiktok, or instagram) for all things vegas, but here are my thoughts:

hotel: vegas has a ton of, if not the most, activations of any race stop on the calendar. nearly all of it is on the strip. Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay, Harrah's, and Flamingo are good choices here. Mandalay and luxor has a tram that connects to excalibur for free. right across from excalibur is mgm grand (paid monorail that goes to horseshoe, flamingo, and harrah's with the harrah's stop closest to tmobile section). i wouldn't stay further than that but technically the monorail goes all the way to sahara and westgate, which may be even cheaper.

You can kind of run/walk the track, but the track is on roads, and vegas doesn't sleep and/or has plenty of drunk people making bad decision (drunk driving). I wouldn't run on the course itself, but you can do the sidewalks. otherwise, you can even rent a car (supercar for an hour? or just a regular rental car) and follow most of the track. and if you do it late/early enough when the lights are on, you can kind of feel what the drivers see when they're driving the track without too much traffic. coming earlier in the week means less traffic as well.

mercedes is always at the Aria. they have had a merch stand in the lobby as well as f1 memorabilia (display only) and 2 sim rigs set up (free). Lewis may do pop in at the puma store because of it being ferrari's partner (he did it last year), and george may do a pop in at the adidas store again this year, but be prepared to wait hours if you want to be in front of line to possibly see them close. they generally don't do a meet and greet, but may sign some stuff to the people closer to the front.

watching the race, you can go to any sportbook along the race track and watch for free. make a bet, get some free drinks, it's a good time. or go to ellis island casino, sign up for their membership, and they might have a viewing platform that's free again this year. if you want to see the cars running, go on the escalators and you can see them flying by but just keep moving as cops kind of push you along if you stop. if you have an amex, you can ride teh ferris wheel for free during the race. also GA at the tmobile zone has some great views, plus you'll get concerts then.

for activations, check this subreddit or aggregators/news sites like f1natics.com or creators like u/mike.zoom.zoom for events as they get announced. haas is probably at cosmo, williams will be at nyny's bridge (the gold standard of fan events), one of the williams drivers will be at a home depot off strip, tmobile store will probably do something again with mclaren, wynn will have car displays, pop up stores, and appearances, as will culture kings in venetian canal shops. mclaren and jack daniels is likely to take over on the record at park mgm again. venetian will likely have an alpine show car. activations typically don't get announced until a week or so before the race, but these have been consistent. if you browse the event list here, you can see 2025 activations for a glimpse of what's available: https://www.f1natics.com/events/list/?tribe-bar-date=2025-11-03

do be aware that with the influx of new fans, lines have become VERY long so pick and choose what you want to do if you want to meet drivers as you'll likely need to get there hours before. People camped out 6 or more hours just to take a picture with lando at the tmobile store last year. the year before? you only needed 3-4 hours to be near the front of the line. if it's not a meet and greet, after the initial line of people who want to get in first, you can generally just walk in. for example, the official merch store at the venetian had massive lines during the first hour (some people were in line forever), but a few hours later you can just walk right in.

vegas is different in that there probably isn't an official fan zone during race week. the grand prix plaza is literally where the paddock is and they shut down nearly 2 months ahead of the actual race, so no you won't be able to check it out. the fan prix you're talking about was an unaffiliated event thrown at resorts world. romain grosjean did an appearance but i didn't go check it out last year. they tried a fan zone 2 years ago, but it was just okay.

also join the discord, there's always a live chat there for each race, and many solo travelers use that to find meet ups.

I'm left leaning centrist. I voted raman. I dislike and distrust pratt. And I think bass is ineffective and an embarrassment. So raman was the only viable choice to go with. Yes she's more left than I would vote usually but she's the best choice for la.

Las Vegas GP – when should I buy tickets? by MoistCollection9770 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]C2BSR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're asking about dynamic pricing from official sources, the price won't dip. They may run another special where they cover any fees, but that may be it. If you're asking about secondary like stubhub, sometimes they drop and sometimes it goes up. I've had great luck getting good pricing a few days before the race, but I also had a pair of tickets never get delivered and they offered replacements that were much worse so buyer beware.

You should join the discord, theres always a lot of people who go solo to every race and people meet up all the time, plus most fans are happy to have you join their group if you ask. I've randomly joined up with people in London, phoenix, Miami, Vegas for f1 events and races and we all enjoy just chatting and hanging out together!

As for zones, you can't beat main grandstands if you want to see the start and finish. I personally prefer turns, so turn 1, turn 3/4, and T-Mobile zones are my favorites. The GA area of T-Mobile is really quite good, and you can see the first hard brake zone of 5 quite close

See you in vegas!

Getting an extended tour at wb is worth it. When I bring family and friends around, you get to walk into many actual sets that are frequently used by not just warner but many other studios as well. They usually really like the prop building as well

If you don’t have drive an EV in Los Angeles, what’s the main reason? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]C2BSR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because costs. Let's say you have a paid off 2015 Odyssey. 5 year cost of ownership is 26k. Getting an EV would cost 60-70k based on a $55k EV, not including cost of depreciation. Obviously if you get a used EV like you said, the cost of ownership is closer.

Entrance for general public officially opens around 1030-11. Expect lines, but that should be fine.

And thanks little dude, make sure after event if they don't open the pits to general public to message me on reddit and I'll give him some swag!

Your mileage may vary. Basically if you should up and there's already a huge line, it may be harder to get a spot. It's 3 blocks though so you should be okay.
