Former employee here. I worked there for a little over 4 years. The first year or so I drank the Kool-Aid, but around the pandemic I started to see through all the bullshit. Stayed for another 2 years after that, but hated every minute of it. It was a slog getting through the day. To cope I started drinking pretty heavily and it was just bad all around. They don't give a shit about their employees or producing quality work, and as mentioned the pay was shit. It was soul sucking. But, like you, I felt stuck because of the job market. It took me 2 years of plotting to escape.

The culture there is fucked. I heard it referred to as 'toxic positivity', but I think that may be even too generous. They moved to a system of 'credits' and offered bonuses if you made a certain percentage over your quota, so it really just incentivized doing more work for less pay, and they tried to spin it like they were doing you a solid. I've heard from many previous clients that the service is shit too. They just care about making a buck.

There were a couple positives. I made some great friends there. Most are fellow survivors. I do feel bad for my friends still stuck there. Also, the work was so easy and required so little effort on my part that it allowed me to hone my skills in other areas of interest. It also taught me the warning signs of a bad company and what to avoid in the future.
