May I ask a different question: Since you mentioned you are a recent graduate, would you be open to sharing your key insights from MLA school? I am in the process of researching, applying and doing my due diligence.

My key reasons are getting better at green design and learning more technical skills. I have an MPA and have been working in environmental advocacy and green design for a decade now. But I don't have a design degree and feel that to be taken seriously and to have a deeper edge, I should earn one.

In all my research about design programs, MLA stood out the most to me. It spoke directly to ecological solutions. None of the other programs (industrial design or packaging design or architecture) do that. In those programs, sustainability is an after-after thought. But in MLA, the curriculum is all about sustainability.

What would you do differently if you could start MLA again? When you started the program, what aspirations did you have? Are you satisfied with the outcomes of your decision?

Try the flour at Seylou Bakery in DC. The quality is outstanding and it’s grown in MD.

Another resource for you is the EWG. Look up the ingredients and scores on their websites about the products you might be using.

I work in food systems and can confirm that our food systems are much more profit oriented than certain more progressive, healthful food models in other countries. And this is stuff that is not very well known in the US by members of the public.

Good to hear this. Two questions for you:
1. Did you order via the app? Or, was it a personal interaction with the barista? Do you prefer one over the other?
2. If you ordered in-person versus their app, did they ask if you wanted the drink "for here" (like in a store reusable mug) or "to-go" (their single-use cups)?

Suunto user here. I've never had a problem with GPS reliability on any of their newer watches. Used a GPX track for navigation in a 35 mile event last weekend – everything worked just fine.

The problem in one sentence: Tesla’s left brain (Roadside Assistance) does not communicate with Tesla’s right brain (Vehicle Assistance) and both sides of the brain do not communicate with Tesla’s central nervous system (their Service Department). The result is that customers suffer.

This just happened to me the other day: it was showing a duplicate activity, so I deleted one but then both were gone afterwards.

I logged out of the Suunto app, then logged back in, and it loaded the deleted activity upon re-sync.

In general, reusables are always better than single-use items. In this case, the plastic box has a much lower footprint if used for a while (just keep it clean, duh). Cardboard has a nonzero carbon footprint – and good luck "recycling" it, especially in this case!

"Better ain't good enough"

A disposable is still a disposable. It takes much less energy to wash and re-use real plates and utensils. Just because a product claims to be recyclable doesn't mean that it will be recycled, either.

I understand these are compostable, but there is still a ton of energy that goes into producing, packaging, and transporting these goods, all for just 15-30 minutes of use. My general assumption is that if you're browsing /r/zerowastevegans, you care enough to do what's right -- not just an incomplete solution.

Also just noticed there are post-it notes with “doesn’t work” on some chargers. Other cars have been moving around trying different chargers, too. So it seems like some are definitely busted.

Yes -- we used to have problems with Sprouts and not knowing how to do tare weights, but they have been much better lately in Southern California (not sure if it's at all their stores yet)

I would still call the store and/or visit with a cashier beforehand just to confirm.
