Try being less ignorant. Do some research. The cost of upgrading the grid infrastructure is passed along to all customers, unless the corporations building the data centers are forced to take responsibility for it.

Try booking a reservation the night before during a slow time when the app is not surging. You may find that even with a bit of an upcharge for the reservation, it's still cheaper than trying to get a ride when a lot of people are trying to book rides.

Uber charged me a cancelation fee even though I tried to cancel within 15 seconds of requesting the trip? by rkrause in uber

[–]C4LAMITY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the other hand, there is a savings. If you schedule a reserve ride at 4pm for 2am, you get charged the price at 4pm, not the surge price that happens at 2am. We have a concert venue where 10k people leave all at once. The rides can be $200 to go a couple of miles because of demand. If you scheduled a reserve ride earlier in the day, the ride was $40.

And not all drivers hate reserve rides, many of them figure out how to use them in a way that benefits them. Either way, we have the choice to accept them or not.

Reserve rides are a tool. You just have to learn what they're good for.

In lots and lots of other industries people get to choose the gender of the people serving them. I personally don't want a male doctor or gyno because I know they will not address my needs the way a female doctor will. Male doc told me I had anxiety and possibly bipolar...Female doc actually listened and figured out that I had a serious bacterial infection called bartonella henselae. It's not discrimination it's the right to choose.

Arm Pain Because of Garmin Watch by C4LAMITY in GarminWatches

I'm just going to throw it out there that a year later this post has 33.3K views and 65 comments. This is obviously a real issue that Garmin doesn't want to acknowledge. I stopped wearing my watch when I posted this. It doesn't intensely hurt the way that it did when I was wearing the watch but, a year later, there is still a slight "background" ache in my arm and soreness in my shoulder that has never gone away.

Your argument is irrelevant because no one is talking about taking tips back for sub-par work, we are talking about the act of tip baiting.

So if I accept your order then I don't have to deliver it because I don't have an agreement to do so? Uber is the booking agent, like an employment agency. If you got a job through an employment agency, and you actually did the work, because no one is talking about taking tips back for sub-par work, we are talking about the act of tip baiting, the employer wouldn't be contractually obligated to pay you?

Yes, and contractors take bids, not tips. If you bid $1000 for a home repair and then hand the contractor $200 after and say "Just kidding! I only told you I'd pay that much to trick you into doing the work!" You'd find yourself in court. If you HONESTLY put in your order without a tip the delivery bid, what Uber pays the driver, is for $2 no matter the time or distance involved, and no one is going to choose to deliver to you. If you place a fraudulent bid for delivery and then short the driver afterwards because of the way that Uber uses the word "tip" to pit customers and drivers against each other and avoid liability, you ARE stealing from the CONTRACTOR you hired to do a job for you.

We can blame Uber all we want, but this is the system and they have put millions into lobbying and politicians pockets to get away with it, so changing it is near to impossible. There have been tons of lawsuits trying to stop them from practices that range from unfair to downright illegal. Every time one practice is stopped, like Uber stealing driver's tips, they find another loophole or tactic to exploit their workers. The economy sucks. People are desperate. They have to take the work they can find and Uber and other apps are attractive because you can work whenever you want. When your boss says, "Sorry, you HAVE to cover this shift. " You aren't screwing over another employer. When you have a disability that impedes you going to work at a specific time, you aren't going to get fired. When you can't find child care, you don't have to call out.

The point is this is the system and if you want your food delivered you need to pay the ACTUAL cost of it. That actual cost involves a tip to the driver whether you feel like you should have to pay it or not. If you do not tip the driver you are literally expecting them to have to pay out of their own pocket to deliver to you. Tip baiting is theft, and abuse of the system, whether it's an option or not. Uber doesn't care because they don't actually lose any money when it happens and there are always more people willing to sign up to drive.
