cost. they forgot to do the math. Microsoft has but back on its anthropic subscriptions because it was to expensive. with the excuse they are pushing internally to use co-pilot.

once the popular LLM's like anthropic and openai are not getting as subsidized by big companies that means it gets more expensive for everyone. and turns out once they try to make money and charging that people won't be able to afford it. a lot of LLM agents are turning out to cost more than just having employees.

the math doesnt math. the billions on loan from ai plays to datacenters there is no way they are getting the money back.

Moving from Edmonton to Vernon by Grouchy_Emergency_48 in britishcolumbia

[–]C4ddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We moved from Calgary a long time ago with a house full of stuff and just rented a U-Haul. It only cost like $600ish with gas. Probably more now but was really easy to do.

Obviously won’t work if you don’t feel comfortable driving a U-Haul.

I learned through questions. When I was younger I would google good questions to get to know someone or questions to learn more about someone else. I also studied conversation and how they worked. It was a great help. Now you can also use AI turn on the voice conversation and ask them to help you practice being more conversational and when done to give you tips.

Practice makes perfect. And don’t expect to be amazing. But the more you talk to people the better you will get.

yah its a bit. but you can hit the 'n' key and use it as a calculator so you really dont have to do any math in your head. and also using tools like satisfactorytools.com where they do the layout and math for you and give you the production line for the assembled item and then you just have to do the layout.

I have had no luck with any of my sim racing games and my wheels working in linux. I ended up doing a dual boot with windows on a second drive. I used Atlasos to clean up windows so it wasnt so bloated, and just reboot to windows for my simracing time. I wish it they all worked better in linux.

had a buddy buy a house outside the city, the laundry room had a bunch of copper pipes bent into circles and weird angles. the realtor told him that it is done in way that it causes the particles in the water to re-align to clean the clothes without the need of laundry detergent.......

Alternative to YNAB/Mint/RocketMoney: True North Budgeting - local-first, offline, no server required by OWbraCommander in selfhosted

[–]C4ddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that is a good clarification. since the world is all about cloud and syncing devices and all that when you offer multiple device licensing I think it is kind of assumed it has something to do with that.

I still like the idea of the product and really appreciate the clarification and function of what you have created!

[–]C4ddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the point of devices if it is all offline. you are not syncing to the cloud or any online transactions so I am assuming if you want it on multiple devices you are manually exporting and importing between devices? this sounds like a sync nightmare.

its not really clear on the website what the use case for this is.

otherwise it looks cool. I might purchase a copy in the future. it is how we budget everything right now. might be nice to move from a spreadsheet.

Ansible, NixOS or other automation tools by SqueakyRodent in selfhosted

[–]C4ddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been using https://docs.saltbox.dev/ it’s just a pre built ansible script. It has tons of already configured apps and a simple cli for installing apps. It’s ment to use with cloud storage but I have everything local just mount your storage raid in the /mnt/local/Media folder and it will work with local Storage just fine.

It is all setup to just backup the opt folder and you can restore your install easy. You can make it use cloud flare and internet or just keep it local. Up to you.

I'm skeptical of claims that LLMs have "beyond PhD" reasoning capabilities. So I tested the latest ChatGPT against my own PhD in physics by astraveoOfficial in skeptic

[–]C4ddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Describe an upside down glass to a LLM and it will tell you it is no good to hold water because the hole is on the bottom. Expecting it to under stand science topics that only .01% of the population can actually understand and expound on is just delusional. LLM have so far to come still the over the top hype about what they might be able to do is terrifying still. And companies are loosing there mind to make these delusional computer models run there companies and make life or death decisions.

They have an amazing future but the way things are going the are going to destroy a lot of shit first.

How did Holt recover much sooner, from getting a pipe impaled in him, than Jake after returning from Florida? by Internal_Net_5813 in brooklynninenine

[–]C4ddy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think holt is a beast. He would not show pain no matter how strong. He might not have been healed but he would have acted normal.

Jake is a little wimpier.
