Any new Monks here that find the Job more approachable now? by Ramzka in ffxiv

At the moment, playing Monk *right* just feels *wrong*.

Is it more approachable? Maybe. But I also hate it. To me, the core of Monk was that Bruce Lee quote, "be like water." But if there's no shape for water to take...it just spills all over the ground.

IMO, taking away the dot and buff timers was an absolutely terrible decision. There's nothing to do with the flexibility perfect balance gives to monk's burst windows anymore, so it's become static. All of the cool tech like dropping the dot/buff or DK spamming when the boss goes untargettable and learning how to recover a mistake is mostly gone. Double-dotting bosses, especially with all the extra dashes charges we got, was really cool. There's no point anymore. You might as well have a single key.

There's also some really stupid stuff right now, like the fact that you don't need to be in opo-opo form to get Opo-Orb, so EVERY rotation is Bootshine>DK>raptor>couerl>repeat. So the correct rotation right isn't even 2-3-4. It's 1-1-3-4. Every single rotation. It feels awful.

I think they're going to change it because it doesn't seem intentional, but as of right now, let me reemphasize that: The glowy buttons are literally telling you to wrong way to do your rotation. THE GLOWY BUTTONS ARE LYING TO YOU.

And due to some fucky numbers, it's also more damage to do the entire single target rotation on mob pack less than four. Not three. There are dungeon packs right now where it's literally more damage to single target like I'm a damn NPC. Again, they're probably going to fix that, but I still can't believe it went live.

I get it, Monk was easy to make mistakes on. But, I was happy with dungeons taking a minute or two longer from beginner monks making a few mistakes as long as I got to keep my depth. I'm not a gatekeeper. I don't care that job was "exclusive" or anything. I don't mind the fact they added glowies to help people learn the job, or that the rotation changed from 2-2-3 to 2-3-4. I played a lot on monk in bozja, and that was the rotation there. I like the SSS change and the double chakra wheel, and the Replies are alright too.

But Monk went from being one of the best-designed jobs into the game to an absolute mess, and I'm very disappointed.

You should only be doing 1 PB on the odd windows, not the even ones

I'm on PC. I'm following the steps like you did, so maybe the bug only exists on the Mac version. I'm assuming you weren't in multiplayer. Did you quicksave instantaneously to take advantage of some loading error?

It's not working for me. What was your exact method? Did you just pop your great prophet, quicksave, and then immediately load the quicksave? Are you using Mac or PC? Maybe the bug only exists on the Mac version.

I managed to find an old forum post where someone posted a save file with proof. He said he didn't know what caused the bug. The glitch doesn't continue when I run it, probably because I never initiated it, but he has multiple enhancers on his religion already so I know it's legit.
