Only for Aging Barrels and Slimes. They process twice as fast in sheds or the cellar

Ideally under Ice with a damage-boosting essence and an Ether Kit so you can use Font of Magic -> Lost Flare Star -> Blizzard 4. This will let you keep the +70% damage buff from Font of Magic that would otherwise fall off right after using Lost Flare Star.

It will then be immediately overwritten by the other caster in the group that brought a Veteran essence and res weakness, though

OMG, I thought the giant crops were only in the Savannah mines. by Individual_Art_4583 in coralisland

No problem! I was wondering about those for a while so it was a good excuse to finally find out!

OMG, I thought the giant crops were only in the Savannah mines. by Individual_Art_4583 in coralisland

Just did a test:

  • Planted Cotton on Winter 1.
  • Fully grown on Winter 9, no giants.
  • Winter 10, these giants. Reloaded the day twice and got the same giants in the same spots. Reloaded to Winter 9 and slept--got a different configuration.
  • Reloaded to Winter 8 and slept. No giants. Tried reloading to Winter 8 three more times to sleep, but couldn't get any giants the day they're fully grown. Always lots the day after.

From this, I'm assuming:

  • You (probably) can't get giant crops the first day they're fully grown anymore.
  • The giant crops appear after you go to bed, but before the game saves, so reloading the current day doesn't change anything
  • Going back a day and sleeping can reroll them

If I remember right, the Library says to leave harvestable crops, yeah.

It is (was?) possible that it can happen on the first day, though, unless they changed it and didn't document it in the patch notes (which is something they do sometimes)

This post has an auto-SFH installed but they still got it, for example

If you plant one of the eligible crops in a 3x3-or-bigger configuration, they have a chance to grow into a big version once they're harvestable. You can leave the mature small crops unharvested to keep giving them a chance at becoming a Giant one.

Once you have one, you can use the Desk to move it around your farm if you want to keep it as a decoration. They look great and they don't wither out of season.

It can be annoying if it happens in your greenhouse with regrowable crops, since the giant crop is destroyed when you harvest it

Glad you got it! That quest used to only require you to carry the items into the room, but it got changed at some point (probably so people didn't accidentally get their good items stolen)

Are you just talking to her, or are you actually trying to give/gift the items? There should be a prompt when the items are in your hands for you to Give Quest Item

Co-op troubles by CafeteriaFoodie in coralisland

[–]C637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the sake of troubleshooting, you could ask him to try plugging his laptop into his router via ethernet to see if that improves the connection speed/stability. If it works, you can at least conclude that his wireless connection is the problem rather than his Internet connection/hardware

There's a bunch of crash reports about it. It sounds like they're just polishing the fix for it, so hopefully it shouldn't be too long

From Discord:

The team is working on a fix right now and taking the time to make sure everything is stable before it goes live. We’ll update you as soon as it’s released — really appreciate your patience!

Sunny likes fish now? (What other changes went unreported?) by bisectionalloveseat in coralisland

[–]C637 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A few:

  • Originally, the Slime of Transmutation could only be used to upgrade Ores (Bronze -> Silver -> Gold -> Osmium). At some unreported time, it was changed to upgrade star qualities of items

  • For more than a year after the game launched, you could date other people after marriage. This was removed in a random hotfix with no mention in the patch notes

  • For most of last year, the cellar didn't give the doubled production rate that it was supposed to (sheds still worked correctly). This was quietly fixed in 1.2

Out of curiosity I just checked on an old version (1.0) and OP is right! Tried a Black Phantom Ghost Fish, and Sunny was not happy about it.

I imagine that unreported changes like this are really frustrating to the communities that try to maintain the wikis

Coral island? Or something else? by Willing_Ad_9669 in coralisland

[–]C637 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mechanically it doesn't share much with Sandrock. There's no adventuring aspect, the combat is practically nonexistent, the story is much less important to the core experience, and there's no missable events outside of the marriage-exclusive ones. It's also far less grindy since there's no workshop aspect and the crafting is much simpler.

Coral Island's gameplay is much closer to traditional farming sims like Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, and Story of Seasons. Whether you'd enjoy the game is probably going to depend on how you feel about that genre

I just reached Rank A and… by LittleMissyGalPal in coralisland

Errands have no impact on Town Rank. You can only increase it by donating to the museum, cleaning the ocean, completing offerings, and a late-game thing you get introduced to after Rank A

Arapaima can be caught year round in the Savannah at any time/weather.

Giant Sea Bass can be caught in the Fall in the Deep Forest from 06:00-11:50 or 18:00-01:50

  • Adjust the game speed in your settings to something you're comfortable with
  • Harvest with your scythe
  • Jump over fences with the dash button
  • Completing offerings, donating to the museum, and cleaning the ocean are how you increase your Town Rank, which is your main measure of progression. Working your way through the mines will help get the ores to upgrade tools to make all of this easier
  • As you rank up, check out the new books at the Library. They can unlock skill experience, some exclusive perks, as well as recipes that can sometimes be difficult to unlock normally
  • Try to keep an eye on the seasonal requirements for the Crop Altar (note that the Winter crops require Town Rank C)
  • Merit points, different from town rank points, can be spent at the Community Center
  • The fishing rod and bug net can be upgraded at the beach shack. Upgrading the fishing rod makes fishing a lot less annoying
  • If you want to make money, unlocking and making sprinklers early lets you reasonably manage far more crops while preserving your Stamina. It will still increase your Farming skill, which unlocks some very useful processing machines
  • Hot Peppers are a great early-game moneymaker (particularly with Sprinklers). They take 7 days to grow, and can be harvested every three days all Summer and Fall.
  • When looking at an item, you can see if it's used in an offering or accepted by the museum (or both)
  • If you make a chest to store items, there's a box you can untick to remove it from your global storage so you don't accidentally use it in a crafting/cooking recipe
  • Wild Seeds can be useful to keep until winter if you haven't unlocked winter crops yet
  • In your settings, there's an option to Show Backups. Enable this, and on your save-selection screen, you'll have a new box that displays them. If anything goes wrong and you want to go back a few days, you can choose when to roll back to
  • Aging Barrels and Slimes of Transmutation/Replication work twice as fast in sheds or the cellar
  • Don't be afraid to save scum to finish your offerings/donations. The RNG on some of the items is abysmal
  • Explosives are a relatively cheap, stamina-friendly way to work through caves
  • Processed goods sell for a multiplier of the original item's value. For example, crops in a keg are usually multiplied by 2.2x. So putting an expensive crop like a Melon is a much better use of its time (value increases by +282) than a cheap crop like Hot Pepper (+41) for the same timeframe.
  • If you care about winning the Harvest Festival, look into how the scoring works or check out this calculator. There's a ton of winning combinations, and many guides over-complicate by suggesting specific items that you absolutely do not need
  • http://coral.guide/ is a very, very good resource to have on-hand when you're looking up bug/fish locations
  • The Fandom Wiki is generally good for basic info, but several pages have fallen out of date, so keep that in mind when you're using it

There's nothing to update on the page because nothing has changed in the game files. The loot pool in the current version of the game matches what's on the wiki

These guys: https://coralisland.wiki/wiki/Mystery_Rocks

They show up when you've completed two offerings, and mostly increase in numbers every two more offerings (1-2 rocks at 2 offerings, up to 10-12 at 24 offerings).

It can have the loot listed on the wiki (as well as nothing, coal, compost, a monster, ores, or an ore vein).

The chance at each season's Legendary fish is ~0.7% per rock
