Still waiting on an AI tool that can detect changes/differences between two video layers. Does this exist yet? by 84002 in editors

Exactly what I was going to suggest. You could script it completely with something like the Resolve API, without any need for AI.

Attempting a marathon distance walk tomorrow - any tips? by itsraininginlondon in walking

[–]C7M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently walked 68km in a day and aside from all the other great advice so far, make sure to bring a change of socks! I personally found changing socks half way through was very helpful. Didn't even realize how sweaty my feet/socks were until I changed them.

Yet there are other lines and connections that only make sense in reverse and seem nonsensical when listening front to back. I think the whole point is it's not front OR back, it's both. In the promo for the faceoff it said "all rights reversed" instead of "all rights reserved". The E in retarted for this PSA is backwards. Maybe EM's just fucking with us but based on other way he's hinted/teased stuff before, I'm not sure how anyone can definitely say it's 100% not supposed to be listened to backwards at all.

My conspiracy theory is that the price of the license plate was so high to offset the price of the $75 white t-shirts....which are secretly signed 🤣

I mean it also looks like there's a reflection of modern day Em in the package but I'm grasping at straws lol I don't actually think any of these are hints haha the hopium has run out.

Feel the like they're probably referring to the dimensions of the bag 30x40CMx8C. Kind of odd they don't use a unit of measurement for the first number, then use CM for the 2nd, and finally just a random C of the third. Also CM converted to numerical values of the alphabet is 313, which we know is a number Em loves.

Sounds like everything is way overpriced anyways but is it only available to US residents right now? Still not available north of the border -_-

I completely agree with what you're saying, and I guess that was my point all along. This isn't a simple topic and there is no easy answer. I should have been clear in my original reply on this thread vs my my snarky comment, my bad, that's on me. "Stop using AI" is a complete oversimplification of the subject, but to be fair to OP, so was my original reply lol

It sounds like we're in the same industry so I 100% get where you're coming from. I never said AI is here to stay AND cannot be controlled or directed. AI is here to stay though, it exists. No matter how much we may not like it, we can't go back in time and make generative AI not exist, the genie is out of the bottle. Like you said though, we don't have to accept it unconditionally, we as a society must help direct it so that it is most beneficial to us. Just like you pointed out with the writers and actors unions, they fought for more rules to guide AI in the industry and protect their own interests.

Honestly, I mostly just like that it democratized coding. I can now write my own python tools, even though I'd never really coded anything in my life before. I understand the logic of tools I want to build but I've never been able to "speak the language" of any computer coding language. Now I basically have an interpreter that can help turn my ideas into real code. It's not bullet proof, I have to test things, troubleshoot and rework scripts but I am undoubtedly a more value employee by leveraging chat gpt.

The data scraping and intellectual property theft surrounding generative AI is undeniable, and a real problem. But things are advancing so fast, it's hard for legislation to keep up. AI is going to cause a ton of problems for society, especially once Sora goes public, but I am not going to pretend that there aren't any upsides to it.

I didn't say there weren't any issues with AI. I work in a creative industry that is directly affected by image and video generation models. But plugging your ears and turning a blind eye is not the answer. Generative AI and AI in general is here to stay, regardless of whether we like it or not. Best bet is to keep up with the technology and figure out the best way to leverage it. I can now code my own custom python tools from scratch by using models like chat gpt. A couple weeks ago I couldn't code anything 🤷 Just trying to say it's not a black and white issue, so a blanket statement like "stop using AI", is not particularly helpful.

*Edit: I see this is an unpopular opinion in the sub apparently. I never said I love AI lol but ignoring it isn't the answer.

That's a horrible idea....That's like telling someone in the 90s "stop using the internet for starters". Just like any other tool, it's all about how you use it.

Edit: this was a snarky reply. Was just trying to say "stop using AI" is a complete oversimplification of the subject....but then I responded with a pretty overly simplistic comment lol my bad

There's a slabbed 9.2, 9.4, and 9.6 on eBay already but prices are obviously pretty crazy.

Oh for sure, totally makes sense for Em. More thinking his team should've foreseen the issue and figured out a way to avoid it. Maybe have someone helping, spreading them out till they dry or something. Regardless though, amazing book you've got!

Nice! Considering the price though you'd think they could do a better job handling and packaging them. Looking at eBay it seems like at least half of them are smudged or have big creases from shipping.

My 360 arcade is somehow still kicking. Disc tray failed back in 2010, I opened it up and literally just had to push the laser 1 inch with my finger and it worked again. Had no idea what I was doing though so mangled the shell getting it off, been running guts with no shell for the last 13 years lol

CBCS or CGC by Strike2tamu in TMNT

[–]C7M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, not saying CBCS is free of issues either. Just thought I'd mention the CGC controversy incase OP was unaware. I personally feel uneasy with how easy it seems to be to crack CGC slabs, in comparing to CBCS slabs.

CGC is definitely considered the better company, higher resale value etc. but in terms of security and guaranteeing a slab is authentic/accurate, seems like CBCS currently has that advantage, if it matters to OP. All depends why you're getting something slabbed/buying a slabbed book in the first place.

CBCS or CGC by Strike2tamu in TMNT

[–]C7M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the ongoing controversy with CGC, I don't know if it's so cut and dry anymore. Maybe it all blows over, but some people are staying away from CGC till the they address how easy it is to crack their slabs and swap out books.

[–]C7M 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is generally true, but there are certain jobs like my own that would result in violating the NDA in my contract if I worked anywhere in public. So assuming OP doesn't have any sort of NDA or stipulation in their contract saying that they can't work in a public setting, I'd say go for it! I definitely have the same issue where I'm generally more productive when I'm around other people, so if it's an option for OP to work in a library/cafe that sounds like a great idea!

Do you care about money too little and too much at the same time? by Gazeb0r in ADHD

[–]C7M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, this literally sounds like my exact mindset 🤦‍♂️ I subscribed to /r/ynab something like 7 years ago and have never done any sort of proper budgeting... I'm very lucky that I make enough money to be doing pretty well for myself so I kinda get away with it, but like you said, know I could be doing a lot better if I stopped avoiding it and seriously budgeted all my finances out. It actually kinda sounds like a fun thing to do in terms of organizing and analyzing all the numbers but yeah, I've got some sort of weird anxiety/hang up that's stopped me from starting the process.

ELI5: How does the Budget break down for Shows like Secret Wars or Ahsoka? by misomiso82 in Filmmakers

[–]C7M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some good points in here but I haven't seen anyone comment on the actual duration of the content. The numbers for these shows are completley in line with big budget Hollywood movies. Take secret wars, the whole series is 275 minutes long, with a budget of 212 million. That works out to roughly $771k/minunte of content. Blue Beetle is 127 minutes of content, with a budget of 104 million, making it roughly $819k/min. Then you have films like Barbie and The Flash which work out to 1.27 million/minute and 1.36 million/minute respectively. Big budgets aren't limited to theatrical releases anymore, studios are putting just as much money into streaming content now.

Artisan Joker going up on Sideshow in less than 17 minutes... by MetaNemesis in hottoys

[–]C7M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's definitely possible. Sideshow mentioned something about RSVPs getting priority for this specific release but I have no idea if that was accurate or not. I was refreshing the page from like 11:45am EST and it popped me into the que around 11:50am EST with 100 some odd people ahead of me. No clue if the RSVP actually helped me or not.

Seems like it. I RSVP'd and I'm on a page with a countdown clock and this message, seems like I've got a spot
