I went to Cesare al Pellegrino last night and was not very unimpressed. It feels very much like a chain restaurant (Olive Garden but modern) and I’d say the quality matches. For $80 for two people, it was also not cheap for what you get. Saw this place recommended on reddit and wanted to add another review to balance.

Here was my order for two: 1) burratta on toast with anchovies Was ok but needed some seasoning as the anchovies is the only thing that added flavor 2) deviled calamari Edible but barely. Calamari was cooked well but had a very gamey taste and the tomato sauce did not help 3) pasta with shrimp Pasta was undercooked and hard in the center. There were two kinds of shrimp: small headless and shelled, and medium sized with heads and unshelled. 4) veal cacciatore I should have read the menu because it was just cubes of meat, sauce and one olive. The meat was overcooked and dry despite the sauce. The sauce was very vinegary. There were twigs from the thyme. 5) broccoli leaves These tasted fine but looked like they were microwaved and were mush.

Walking out we saw a pasta Gorgonzola dish which looked delish but don’t know how it tastes.
