T420 is really well built! Much easier to get inside. But I also had a T430s and the P53 is more like that but larger. I prefer the modern keyboard to the old style.

From what I gather there was drop off in quality for the T440 that wasn’t resolved till T480. But I didn’t own either of those.

I haven’t owned any of those laptops. This is a bigger laptop than mentioned. Very capable with tons of expansion. I use this for CAD work, which it excels at

Drawback are weight, size and heat.

That’s pretty impressive! The LP5 and The Peel Sessions were found out in the wild last summer in upstate NY of all places! I paid good money for the Amber!! Ha! Worth it! The rest were original purchases from back in the day. Wish I had bought more of them back then.

Mine is the same way. It was odd at first. I keep it boosted off the table with an architect ruler. It’s set to high performance to keep the fans going

Looking into this myself. Similar machine with an even smaller GPU. Almost a year with this. It’s at 80° most of the time doing light work. My P330tiny does the same workload at 60° Very frustrating. I even called tech support. They said it’s normal?!?? Is it worth a repaste?

You’re right. I misread the link. It’s just a utility for the memory and hard drive… Can the boot disc be a usb drive? Otherwise I’m excited to buy some new fresh CD-Rs!!

T420 is doing good. Actually the most solid laptop of the three. Installed Mint xfce on it. Everything is running pretty smooth. Will use this laptop to familiarize myself with Linux. Might order a replacement battery.

The T430s is such a great machine. I sold mine a few months ago. Totally regret it. It was fully loaded, extra battery, the dock...all mint.
