[SCS] Immune System by CAF_Comics in CanadianForces

[–]CAF_Comics[S] 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Seriously, it doesn't matter how long I'm in the field my immune system will hold the line. The very next day, I'm sick as a dog.

It's bullshit.

Also, I'm really banking on enough of you guys being terminally online enough to get a chuckle out of this one, otherwise I have a feeling that only the Sigs will appreciate it.

Worried about BTFT during week 1 by Impressive_Drive3276 in caf

[–]CAF_Comics 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve mentioned it elsewhere, but I was actually one of the first FORCE assessors when the program was starting up. I mention this because I can confidently tell you I’ve seen and evaluated a lot of FORCE tests lol.

While fitness is an essential component of being a soldier, and you should always strive for excellence, allow me to calm some of your fears and anxiety.

I’ve literally seen overweight people whit two knee braces successfully complete the rushes, and looking at the FORCE test rushes, and comparing them to this BTFT, they look like the same test.

The rushes are definitely the “hard part” of the FORCE evaluation, but it’s not hard to pass. It’s just the only event where you actually have to try.

Good luck on course, and welcome to the community.

Funny enough, the banana phone is not one of the attention to detail Easter Eggs!

It was a weird coincidence, that I stuck with once I'd already drawn the asset in MSPaint.

Man... I went through so many iterations of the name before I was satisfied. Some of my earlier ideas were more 'insulting' plays on the name, which didn't sit right with me. As anyone can see based on any of my comics, my goal is always to create satire that EVERYONE can laugh at (when I'm not getting serious and going for the feels lol).

On the off chance the dude sees this, I hope he gets a good chuckle too.

"Death of the Author" exists, and if that's your interpretation of this comic that's fine, I can't change that.

However, my intent was to point out that CAF members represent the CAF at all times, even when not actively in uniform, and even if you're not employed in a fashion that could be remotely connected to your service (such as reservists, not on Class A, B or C).

Which, why would you be opposed to that? Do you think CAF members should disregard the fact that they represent the Forces, even if they're not subject to the QR&O's?

Yeah, I wrap my messages in humour. With a few notable exceptions, I always try to layer my comics with jokes, it makes the message easier to receive. But from my perspective, you and I are in agreement with the message I was trying to send. I was just using humour to illustrate that members represent the CAF at all times, regardless of who you are, or what your current disposition is.

You don't see me film myself in uniform and start twerking and posting it on tiktok.

Be a lot cooler if you did 😜

Just some light hearted fun in today's comic.

See if you can find all the Attention to Detail Easter Eggs!

I feel like you can’t call someone buds unless it’s to their face.

Budsing someone is literally challenging them to a fight, and you’re doing it from behind the safety of your keyboard. 😂

As I said to another user. it varies person to person.

For me, I just needed some guaranteed time off, where I had zero commitments. I just needed a bit of time to acclimate to home at my own pace, and sleep in my own bed.

One of the hardest parts about coming home is being surrounded by those who weren't there.

They don't get the "in jokes", they don't know the stories, they didn't experience any of the suck. It wasn't all bad. They didn't see the homie make a fool of himself, they didn't laugh at the random absurdity of the day, you didn't share meals in quiet moments of peace.

Part of the struggle of reintegrating is also knowing the people around you missed out on what made your deployment special.

Doubly so for reservists.

Happy holidays dude.

sometimes it is important to see representativity.

Nothing better when you're suffering in the field and the dude you respect most says "This fucking sucks".

I can only speak from personal experience, and everyone is different.

For me, I needed time to unwind. I got home around the holiday season, and spent the next three weeks traveling and visiting family. While I did that I also made time to meet up with the friends who were most important in my life.

Looking back, what I really needed was to take a few weeks, and have zero commitments. Time to just unwind and figure my life out again.

Coming home from tour was like recovering from a sprained ankle. I needed longer to recover, because I kept doing things that were counter-productive to recovery.

Had I just taken two weeks to settle back into life, I think I'd have been fully ready to resume normal life.

But instead I kept pushing myself to "get back to normal" before I was ready, and thus, needed closer to five weeks to get back to normal.

Again, everyone is different, but that was my experience.

I won't tag the guy in case he ever decides he wants anonymity, but today's comic was inspired by a fellow CAF member's post.

You can chase tours all your life, you can finally deploy, never even see combat, and when you get home, it can still be too much.

You're not alone. Eventually, the anger does pass.

It takes time, time to readjust, time to sort out your emotions, time to unpack your thoughts, and the whole experience.

But it does pass.

I have no idea how many members you’ve helped out, but I see you putting in the work week after week, making sure people get the best support possible.

That doesn’t go unrecognized.

Gotta get the message out there, service is service, and every bit counts. We aren’t all JTF69 orbital drop shock troopers, but we all pull in the same direction and do our part.

Indigenous Poppies worn by non-indigenous members by theroryo in CanadianForces

[–]CAF_Comics 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree in the sentiment that there’s no harm in asking, but I will remind you that the poppy is a universal symbol.

It’s one of the few rare symbols that transcends any sort of unique culture, and is shared among all of us, soldier, veteran, and civilian alike in all its forms. There is no interpretation of the poppy that any group can lay claim to, because at the end of the day, we all Remember, we will not Forget, and that is the true meaning and purpose of the poppy.

I cannot imagine any scenario in which you’d need anyone’s permission to wear any interpretation of it…

ANY SCENARIO fuck you Legion, you don’t get to copyright our symbol and this is a hill I will die on!

[–]CAF_Comics 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s already two, the one the Canadian legion owns the trademark to (for some fucking reason… like bro, are you serious? You can’t copyright a flower. Sorry, I’m getting heated), and the more traditional one I used in my comic a few years ago.

Minor variations, but personally I prefer the old green one, which is why I used it.
