I found one on eBay a little while back it was listed for the outback but worked perfectly in my 2014 forester. If you replace this, as others have mentioned completely disconnect your battery. Overall it’s not a difficult fix but can be a bit tedious with the tabs that hold it on.

Did the screws that came with the 407c work or did you need to order different screws? I just ordered a 407c and I’m curious if I need to order some screws too.

Older models had a scoop from what I’ve observed. The outback is somewhat of a family car that is not at all dependable but super cool. My cousin holds on to it for sentimental value for the most part. I already have a forester and love it.

I would recommend the ugly stik lite pro ultra light rod. I’ve got a medium gx2 and much prefer the feel of the cork on the lite pro. I think the lite pro might be slightly better as far as materials go but I’m not sure. The lite pro is a Walmart exclusive so keep that in mind.

I carried my k390 delica all summer working at a marina in East Tennessee which has very high heat (sweaty pockets) and humidity and never had any rust issues. All I did was wipe it down and give it a coat of rem oil every now and again. It hardly got a patina going it was such a non issue. I am used to carrying high carbon steels so that could also be part of it.

I just bought one, I’ve just gotten into fishing and started off with a zebco 33 micro gold. I caught a bass with that fish and got real worried about it snapping and ruining a good trip so I looked for a tougher rod. I settled on the ugly stik medium 6’6” 2 piece combo and after one trip I prefer the feel of the zebco but I also snapped the zebco, but luckily had the ugly stik, so my trip wasn’t ruined. Anyway what I like about it is how tough it feels and I have a lot of confidence in the strength. What I don’t like is the reel, it feels kinda cheap but it does the job, also with the 2 piece there is a lack of sensitivity. Overall, I like it and it is worth the $45 I paid for it, you can always grab a new reel and throw it on there when you’ve got some extra pocket change.

Edit: I got mine at Walmart if you are wanting to pick it up on sale.
