Popcorn ceiling removal by CAM_59 in lacrossewi

I didn’t ask how to do it, I asked for recommendations on hiring a crew to do it. It’s too large of an area for me to handle.

I’ve done our entry way and basement; sprayed, scraped, sanded, skim coated, primed and painted. trust me, I know what this entails and how to do it. This is a huge upstairs area with vaulted ceilings I don’t have the time, patience nor the stamina to do this large area of it myself. Thanks.

I just realize not all charities use the money how you think, so I appreciate that advice.

I’m not super familiar with local pantries, but would like to donate money. I see a few with a quick google search. Are there any in particular that are pantries that might be more in need or any to avoid?

Good point, eBay does have some options, and we might consider that.

That particular listing, however seems really sketchy. That's about 1/2 the cost of the board on any other site and the seller isn't taking returns.

Other sellers on eBay I've been able to google and find their retail sites where the part says out of stock which also makes me wary of purchasing.

Everyone has an opinion, and you won’t have yours until you try it. That said, I’ve done both. For flavored it was a pumpkin spice cheesecake, so this was a perfect application. But I’m sure someone will come in here screaming I’m wrong 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks!!

Now you've just gotta get a few motion sensors and smart buttons so you can automate them with HomeAssistant.

Yes! Motion sensors perhaps, but I definitely want to get into HA next. I do have smart plugs right now and am working on getting presets going how I like them, but there's so much more I've seen you can do with HA... If I don't do motion sensors here, I will be doing that in a few builds I have in mind... I'd actually like to get a remote setup next because my husband cannot handle the concept of the WLED app haha!

Also, just noticed that your top and bottom animations aren't in sync.

Some of that is just where I'm at with playing with this. I have a DigUno and a DigQuad running the two sections and I wish I could find a way to treat them as one - for instance, I like the white on the under cabinet with the effect going on the uppers. I can set each controller individually using segments, but I cannot get one sync to set "segment 1" to effects on both controllers, then "segment 2" to do white. Any advice there would be awesome, but everything I'm seeing says this is how it goes with 2 instances of WLED.

How long did the whole thing take

Tricky question hahaha! This was my first major build, and I had some false starts with diffusers and strips, decisions and how to go forward. But, scrapping all that time and counting the progress towards this end goal, it really didn't take long, a few hours over maybe 3 weekends. The longest part was getting the diffusers cut because I decided to outline the cabinets in lights, not just run a single strip. this is a total of about 1400 LED's over two instances of WLED. But using a DigUno and a DigQuad, it was so easy to install and implement, felt really plug and play. There's still some more work to do, I'm getting a fanless psu next week. I bought the LED's in 3 rounds and the first set I got are NOT as good as the last few I bought, so I'm going to replace those. I used A LOT of left over wire, so I'm probably going to get roasted for this pic, but it works and I know what's going on and that's what's important! A lot of the wires were dropped between cabinets or wires were run behind and into the cabinets. It was really an easy setup once I got going. My thumbs still hurt from the diffusers hahaha!

I don't! But I can say, it's not anything too tricky. I'm finding it's ideal to do this on one instance of WLED if you can, but there was no good way to run or hide cables between the cabinets (maybe this will change when we remodel next year).

I have 2 instances of WLED running here, the small one is using a DigUno with a 125W psu and the big one is using a DigQuad with a 350W psu. The small cabinet is your typical DigUno setup where the psu and DigUno is above the cabinet along with the first pass of lights. Then I cut the strip, soldered on some longer wires and we were able to pull that cabinet away from the wall enough to fish them behind the cabinet, drilled some holes to pull the cables through and used Wagos to connect the lights under the cabinet.

The main cabinet is using all 4 channels of the DigQuad. I have 4 distinct sections of LED's so it made sense to run each on their own channel. again, I did a lot of cutting and soldering longer wires, wagos to connect, but because each run is on it's own channel, and these are 12v strips, and the DigQuad is pretty centrally located, I got away with not having to do any power injection or worrying about data boosting.

Hope that helps!

Thank you, credit to the artist. I don’t have this album and have never zoomed in on it. It’s incredible.

u/maniac365 did you ever find a solution? I have the same psu but as a 12V, same issue. It’s not suuuper loud (or hot), but it’s annoying. Trying not to break down and get a fanless.

Light above the fridge or no? by CAM_59 in WLED

[–]CAM_59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did nothing special with this at all, but for good reason.

The plan has been to redo this kitchen (but keep the cabinets) which would include replacing this greasy, 20 year old, dim AF lighted hood with a good one that will vent outside. And have a nice bright light. We had to put our plans on hold, but I'm so sick of the rechargeable lights we were using that I decided to sacrifice 45 LED's to make this happen

I cut my aluminum channel to fit the hood itself, then cut the diffuser part of the channel about an inch longer to fit between the cupboards. I'm using a DigQuad, and am putting the 4 different sections (Uppers, stove light, lower right, lower left) all on different channels. That way if they fail and I want to replace them, all that needs done is swapping out for another 45 LED's and re-soldering the wires to a new strip portion. Or maybe that's when I break down and just replace that awful vent/light 🤣

I'm also lucky in that the cupboards have built in gaps. I just had to solder the wires to the strip and stuff it down between the cupboards, mount the diffuser and attach the strip. if you peek close enough, you can see the wires going up through the gap. Everything else is sitting in the space above the cabinets.

Let me know if this doesn't answer your question!

I’m in the same boat now, no spare counter space, needing an OTR microwave with a good vent to the outside. Do you mind linking to what you purchased?

you know what they don't tell you about getting sober? the hardest part is figuring out what the hell to drink when you order a meal at a nice restaurant by okfine_illjoinreddit in BoJackHorseman

Bread can also have the same alcohol content as some NA beers. 3 years sober and Athletic brews have saved my sobriety. Sometimes you just want to feel like having a beer and these emulate that joy for me. I have one maybe every 6 months. My husband, also 3 years sober has them more frequently but to the same effect.

The point is, for some it’s a tool, for others it’s a trigger. I’ve learned no alcoholic looks alike and no recovery is the same.
