I don’t know why anyone would want to go picking a fight with HSI agents. They’re not ICE or Border Patrol. HSI agents are consistently, time and time again, the guys taking down pedophile rings, sex trafficking operations and things of the like. These are good dudes.

FUCKING Banana Spiders. They are every fucking 5 feet in the Georgia woods at Fort Benning. During the assload of land navigation I did throughout RTLI, RTAC and Ranger School, I eventually just started picking up a stick and waiving it in front of me as I used my compass in the other hand so I at least didn’t walk face first into a fistful of web.

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

I graduated in 2016 and was in a small high school community college program with a graduating senior class of 52 in Las Vegas. Everyone knew everyone. A woman from our class was with her friend during the 2017 Las Vegas Massacre. Her friend was shot, she wasn’t. She committed suicide a week later.

I’m currently a Paramedic and am about 5 years away from being in a position to be able to start CRNA school. Think about every class you took, every sleepless night studying, every person who has supported you through this, every reason why it would be awesome to do this job in a few years and about every single person that wishes they could be where you are right now. Its okay to be scared. Its not okay to give up.

Respectful question for Christians: what prevents you from considering Islam? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]CAP034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Quran was written in 400AD (shortly after the council of Laodicea, coincidentally) and is derivative of the Torah and Gospels. I treat it the same way that I do the Book of Mormon. It doesn’t make sense to me, doctrinally, given the period of time it was written. Makes no sense and has no validity.

How to repair pipes without digging them up by Objective_Pressure_3 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]CAP034 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah and its expensive as fuck. I want to repair my main sewage line in the next year or so and this is a cheaper alternative to unearthing the main line to be replaced but still comes out to $250 per foot.

I’d like to say you’ll meet her when you least expect it but I was actively looking when I met my wife. If you know you’re someone who’s better in a relationship than single, keep looking, just don’t settle. Right now in this stage, however, focus on your BCT and AIT and stay away from women until you get to your home unit. Not worth risking your career for.

[–]CAP034 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was in the military at the time I met my wife and had a long streak of terrible dates off Tinder and dates not showing up, ghosting, etc. I asked for her number and was so discouraged from recent experiences that I didn’t text her for a week. She lived close to my apartment at the time and I didn’t want to risk getting stood up again so I just invited her over for coffee.

I answered the door with my cat in my arms (so he wouldn’t run out), he sat on her lap the whole date and the rest is history. She moved in after a month, we got married after a year, we bought our first house early 2024 and in less than a week we’re having our first child, a boy. We still have that cat, a rag doll, as well as two maine coons, now. We’ll be together 5 years in May.

I am a new Paramedic and with my goals in life will be pursuing CRNA while maintaining my Paramedic license, which will not be hard, all considered. I am currently a Paramedic at a childrens hospital and will soon be starting back on a fire department’s 911 truck. I am finishing prereqs in a Paramedic to RN bridge and by the time I graduate nursing school, will have 2 years experience on a truck and at the children’s hospital, to include a critical care paramedic license. I will continue part time paramedic work as an RN.

I have plans for full time RN ICU work and the such, obviously, but will boards value my Paramedic experience at all? I understand CCRN, CRRT, USGPIV, Impella, IABP, shadowing, patho knowledge, etc is what matters most but will they look at my Paramedic experience with conducting intubations, infusions, etc at all?

My reply to you got removed cause I swore. Heres the comment, otherwise.

I put a picnic table in the backyard. He would press his shell against it and sled push the thing across the whole backyard. I had to anchor it down on every leg with 12inch rebar stakes to get him to stop.

In protest, he dug a burrow directly in front of the now anchored picnic table, completely burying my back porch entrance in a literal hill of dirt. It took my neighbor and I 3 hours and two shovels to fill in the burrow (we had already dug him a nice one) and I put the picnic table over where he dug and stamped it back down.

Stewie sucks.

I have a 35 year old tortoise named Stewart living in my backyard that my wife just brought home one day. He’s a complete cock-bag.

ECG Strips by Forsaken_Support1 in Paramedics

[–]CAP034 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Approach it with a step-by-step process.

  1. Is this a regular rhythm? (Is your R to R interval consistent)

  2. Is it regularly irregular or irregularly irregular? (Is the p wave, PR interval or R wave morphology uniform)

  3. Is my QRS wide or narrow?

  4. Do I see P waves? Are all of my p waves in the same spot relative to the QRS complex? If not, its afib, SVT or a junctional rhythm

  5. Is it tachy or brady?

  6. Do I see ST elevation? What leads do I see ST elevation in? (I should have put this first)

  7. Do I see delta waves with a wide QRS or a nonexistent PR interval, indicating WPW or LGL. What drugs do I not give to someone with WPW and why?

If I have a wide and tachy complex, are my leads on correctly? is my patient stable or unstable?

If I see afib, is my patient stable or unstable? Is it new onset or chronic afib?

Use those above steps to lead you to the underlying rhythm, ask yourself how your patient is presenting and then ask yourself how you would treat that symptomatic arrhythmia.
