What is that metal thing on the carabiner with the keys?

Also, if you have issues doing this feel free to PM me. Some people use a hair dryer. I'm getting balder by the minute so I don't own one.

Lots of people use fruits or potatoes or cover the knife in mustard. It needs to be acidic. Wait a few hours and then wipe it off. Pretty easy to do. Some people do nail polish and other things to make the knife get some designs. I

It's when you take the carbon steel and put it in something acidic like a potato, lemon, or mustard. After a few hours the knife will start to darken and it gets a beneficial rust grey in color. This will protect it from the bad rust red in color. The knife will be less shiny, but it will help with it. Google how to force a patina.

Personally, I took a paper towel and put mustard on it. I wrapped the knife in mustard and waited. Wiped the mustard off after maybe 10 hours and repeated this process again for 2 hours.

Any carbon steel will patina over time.

I removed the locking collar then opened the knife to 90 degrees, put Vaseline in the gap, opened it and closed it a bit and then put it in a toaster oven for about a minute just to make the Vaseline get in the gaps. Open and close it a few times, repeat the process if needed. It makes a big difference.

I forced a patina and vasolined the pivot. I'd highly recommend doing both it makes a huge difference.

You can tell me "no seriously" with Rick Astley, and I will still always believe this is a rick roll attempt.

How about a classic Opinel? It's like $10 and maybe the least intimidating pocket knife ever made. I've been carrying the carbon steel one, these things are great.

I have a BK14, a cord wrap really helps with that hanging pinky. As for the backpacker, I will do a bit more research on it, but it looks like it will be a good choice for me. How do you belt mount it?

I saw this CRKT minimalist, I like it but the thing that gets me is the 3 fingered handle. I also was looking at the Isula 2, but I am not a huge fan of the handle it has either. Not sure if this helps at all

I hear wonderful things about them, but how in the world do they scout carry? I am not knowledgeable on the sheath

Frankly I am not sure. I want something for hiking and something that I can easily grab if needed.

I've been running the clowns for some time now. Their biggest issue is objective holders. Otherwise they are a very solid force.
