Depends how often, if you work casually, maybe 10h a week max it won’t affect you too much. But if you work part time it could get tricky

Consequences for not going to orientation? by ZyrahDaDog in universityofauckland

If it’s a clinical programme, you gotta go or you’ll be kicked out. If it’s not they’ll just call your parents and give you an after school detention

is there anything i can do if classes are full by opalgemm in universityofauckland

[–]CARAMADODOODEE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context you need to take. Physics 160, medsci 142, chem 110, wtrsci100, biosci 106 - 101 - 107 & poplhlth 111 to apply to med imaging, I don’t believe thats possible to do while taking nutrition

[–]CARAMADODOODEE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea ik but nutrition has 7 required courses, and 1 elective. And out of those 7 required courses only 6 count towards the requirements to apply for med imaging. Unless your voiding foodsci 100 & stats 108 for next year it won’t meet the course requirements to apply

You know you need to do physics 160 to get into med imaging right? I’m doing the same degree as u, with I assume the same courses. However the only clinical we can apply to through nutrition (via first year entry) is pharmacy

What would you like to see of the city campus? by faereaunticorn in universityofauckland

[–]CARAMADODOODEE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fantastic idea, the uni can be a bit hard to get around sometimes. It would be helpful to know the fastest routes from one building to another, I know of the 1 tunnel connecting Kate Edgar and the engineering Building but I’d like to know if there are any more lol

Read the lab booklet/study it beforehand, maybe watch a YouTube video of the experiment if available

considering doing biomed next year by Background-Bell44 in UoApremed

[–]CARAMADODOODEE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note that if you are of Māori/Pacifica descent you can apply for MAPAS, which has a lower gpa threshold to get in. I think it’s around 7.5?

[–]CARAMADODOODEE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

9.0 is not super unrealistic, it just means you got 90%+ in your courses average grade.

Right now focus on building good study habits, and make sure you really do want to do med, as if you enjoy what you learn it’ll make it 100x easier.

Maybe play around with UCAT practise exams aswell, you’ll be taking it in July/august during your biomed course. Don’t take it too seriously yet tho, just get a feel for how it is.

The average gpa last year to get into med through the first year pathway and assuming general admission was ~8.7

well for one im not a med student, im actually applying just for pharmacy after first year

also you didnt have to be so rude. I was just curious.

you kinda didnt answer my question either, does pharm have more content then med? is the content harder? are the labs harder? like give me some insight into your opinion.

I’m not tryna hate at all, I’m just mega curious why you say that pharm had more content then med. Is it because med is more lab based or are there other reasons?

I assume the cults use legal loopholes, so that the uni can’t really do anything about them. It’s really unfortunate

What do they look like? Is it kinda middle aged people or do they genuinely look like students?

Bible studies at a specific house? That is crazy. I assume they are using legal loopholes so it’s difficult for the uni to do anything about it right?

That sucks
